    Hi Jo,
I couldnt wait till 2 moro so i have just downloaded DVDFab and DVD Free using my newest toy called "download accelerator". The download for both took less than 40 seconds. Is that fast do you think?? I'd really value your opinion cos it seems too fast to me.
    Anyhoo more anon

It's only money murph! These toys are like money pits!

    How about an external HD?

I'm looking at something in the 500 gb - 1 tb size. My present 450 gbs of hd's are inadequate.

I'm not sure where to start even.... i want a laptop which can play and burn DVD's and possibly ps and xbox 360 games.....i dont need gaming capability cos i leave that for the console's(ps and xbox).I'm surfing all the main stores that sell p.c's but most of their websites are under construction it seems....2 moro i'll just go out and take whatever is on offer. Any advice for me. i'm shopping in the 700-800 euro range.

I'm no help when it comes to laptops. I'm also across the pond.

Looks like pretty good specs for dvd backups.
    Vista? UGGH!

    Good Luck murph!

Laptop burners are only good for occasional use, keep that in mind. Robust they are not.

murphj11, even though I have used pc's for at least 5 years however I'm also still green to a lot of this tech stuff, the programs givin to you on this post for copying are great but to some greenies like myself it can still be a bit overwelming, if by chance you do run into that problem, you can always give clonedvd and anydvd a shot with thier free 21 day trial.

If some of those others give you a problem, give clone and anydvd a shot, if I can run it anybody can.

Lots of mistakes can happen with dvd burning newbs. Folling guides, ripping, finding wherever the heck they went onto hd,then burning. If you don't know what you're doing, then you may easily have 10+ gigs on your harddrive without even realizing it.Without that extra hd space, then may crash.

It happened to me on my first movie backups and my 1st wii game backup last month,LOL! Lots of extra copies of the same thing all over both my hd's.

Then it hit hits you like a big DUH!!! This stuff is pretty simple, even a caveman can do it! The guides do make it sound like brain surgery.

Thanks to allthat have taken the time to give me a dig out. Time is precious i know. I went and bought a new hp with a DVD burner and 250Gb HD and thought i was the dog but today im a very disheartened puppy....Firstly the dvd will not read a disc for me....when i thump it it does but since then i have tried and tried but got nowhere. First of all i had to change the region for a brand new movie to get it to play. Then i copied the movie.....it took 40 minutes. Then i tried to burn it.I took the disc to my partners p.c and it said the folder was empty. The new p.c came with a suite called Power2go and i'm not impressed with it. Has anybody got some wisdom they could share with me....i wish my old laptop wasn't old.

at the bottom of the screen on DVDfab HD decrypter it says "DVD 9" or "DVD 5". it wont let me change to dvd 5 because thats only for the version that u have to buy. i realized that my dvd's are DVD 5 quality. will i not be able to burn the movie onto these blank disks?
