just got my first dvd burner...sony dru-120c. dvd+r discs burn just fine but i get the "illegal disc error" when trying to use fujifilm dvd+rw discs. i got them as a gift and hope they will not be wasted! i have also tried to burn using imgburn but get an error message there as well. i can get the log if necessary. if this cannot be fixed any advise on what type of dvd (rw) that might work would be apprericated.

    thank you.

That is the log thanks! Here is what I've come up with. Mostly a tune-up, but you should update your Nero and get some better media.

First, edit out your Nero serial number:

It's the long number at the top of your Nero log file.
    5c82-0010-8010-0000-0000-xxxx-xxxx

    Update your Nero:
    Find 7.7.5.1 here.

Try and get your DMA Enabled:
Your media is rated second class:
Here is the media rating list I use.

    The actual error:
So that's another reason to try some better media. Look at the list and try and find something better. I don't know why yours failed to format. Maybe the newer Nero version will help with this.

Make sure you do all the normal PC maintenance stuff, disc cleanup, defrag, run a virus scan.

    Edit:
I see you edited while I was writing. The ImgBurn log does not like these Daxon RW discs either:
    I'd get some different media.

one more thing I would add to Fasfrank's great advice is to update your firmware from MYR5 TO MYR6 found here: LINK

oppppppps just noticed that since you are using crappy media... I wouldn't burn too lose to the edge of the disk:
set this to no more than 4300MB! to be safe for those cheapoooooo crappy disks.

and follow the rest of fasfrank's great advice!

    @visions1
I am new to dvd burning as well but some advice go for the trusted brands of dvd-rw such as Verbatim - TDK is my personal choice... have a browse through the dvd-r forums and maybe look for Made In Japan on the media.
one more thing perhaps look up the website of the burner and find a recommended media section - perhaps it's PDF. this will help with media choices.
    good luck and happy burning!!
Sony would be good choice too. Sony media for a Sony burner
