I backed up my dvd using dvdshrink and burning the .bup and .vob files to DVD with CloneDVD2. The outcome was clear picture and sound but black and white video? there where no errors during and part of the backing up process which is why I am confused. Thankfully I burnt it to a +RW so I can re-write. Any suggestions on what the probelm is and how to fix it?

    Thx in advance.

I'm not sure what happened. How much did you compress it? i'm guessing that maybe if somthing is compressed alot it may lose colour.

Is it a Region 2 PAL format disc that you backed up?

I am not entirely sure, I can't access that computer right now. Sounds like you are suggesting I get rid of the region if possible? dvdshrink will do that i believe, correct?

Shrink will remove region coding but that's not your problem. PAL is a different screen format than NTSC which is used in North America.

Rendering the files in GSpot will tell you wich format it is.

To convert from one format to another you need to use TMPGEnc for the conversion then something like TPMPGEnc DVD Author to put the files into the proper DVD compliant format ready for burning :)

We finally found the problem and I was way off to begin with. It was a problem with his wiring to the dvd player.

    Thanks all!
