    chicoz66,

Well is seems that you're running a system close to mine :)

I can only surmise that a possibility for your crash is a conflict in software. I run AnyDVD and a ton of other programs including CloneDVD2 (by elby) and have no issues. I used to use Clone DVD2 (Now Clone DVD3) but had issues with the quality as well as backing up several programs but never crashing.

I am running XP with SP2 and all runs well.

To ensure that it is in fact the software, I'd like you to try to backup a DVD using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. -

The step-by-step guide is in my sig

Including the download and installation of the programs it should take you about 1 1/2 hours top from start to finish. Allow AnyDVD to operate BUT uninstall Clone DVD. In the end we will be able to determine if it is your program PLUS, you'll have backed up another DVD - Good deal, Huh ?

As far as your uninstall of your program, - Use "Add /Remove" Programs in your Control Panel. Then clean out your registry to insure you have a clean PC. When we reinstall your program back in, you'll have a virgin install.

Here are 2 Registry Cleaning method

Go into your registry C:\Windows\Regedit.exe and do a search "Ctrl and F" for the program you're trying to eradicate.

    Example: DVDCloner II, Nero, etc.

Another way to clean your registry is to use something like RegClean. A Free program that will get rid of a lot of unattached registry files

    RegClean ~>

All of those tell me you are confusing CloneDVD with CloneDVD2 by Elby because they are all false statements

    Note:

They surely don't apply to CloneDVD2 (by elby)

I've been running that proggy since it came out and those ststements do no apply -

It puts a DVD-9 onto a single dic quite fine (a bit of quality loss when compression is over 83 %) and requires a ripper i.e. DVD43 OR DVDD.

Me think it sounds like this:

the following is a ScubaPete "Bad Buy".

CloneDVD ver2 (by some other guys:( - http://www.clonedvd.net/download.html

I think you should pay closer attention to the settings you used in DVD Shrink (set your "target size" to 4360 MB or even 4300 MB AND use decent media.

Writing to the edge of the disc is like shooting yourself in the foot ~

Compress your DVD to somewhere around 4.3GB instead of the recommended 4360MB. I.e., Go into DVD Shrink, "Edit", "Preferences" then set the "DVD Target Size" to "Custom" and enter 4300MB as the size. Reducing the amount of Data to be burned it keeps your burning away from the disc's edges where the dye on poor quality DVD discs tends to be uneven and may even be brittle and flaking. Nero, DVD2One and most good burning applications will allow you to set the, "DVD Target size".

You may reduce the number of errors and "artifacts" (the "freezing", " skipping", pixelations and other picture abnormalities) when burning poor media by burning at a reduced speed. It has been my experience that burning at 2.4X will succeed where faster burns will not.

The second part of the solution is to always use a decent grade media. I suggest something like those discs made by Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Mitsubishi or RICOH. Unfortunately they are also the discs most plagued by pirate Mfgrs. and for that reason I like dealing with Mertline, Supermediastore OR Newegg who have a great return policy on their products. I have had great luck with Ritek, RiData and Verbatim DataLife Plus discs and their prices are extremely reasonable.[/b] As a passing note, when buying Verbatim's, they come with a lifetime warrantee. Return them with your sales slip OR register receipt and a new one will be shipped to replace it.

    Cheers,

    Pete

    Chico,

Man, you have got to learn how to punctuate your sentences. You also have to learn how to use spell check so your posts can be read intelligently.

If your program says the 3 files are opened, go to the location where you downloaded the files and click on the .exe file to install it.

    chicoz66,

You have too much information missing.

    1. When you download any program, there is a box that comes up to tell you where the file is being sent and giving you the chance to change it. It also contains the program's name. You must look at that box and write down where the file is being sent. Usually it is sent to Program Files.

When you speak of movies you cannot find on your HD, the same is true. You can't just click something without reading it. Also, what type of format are the movie files in ? We have to know that before we can tell you how to get them and burn them. When downloading either AnyDVD OR CloneDVD2 you must know where they go so that you can extract the files and click on the install file OR you must click on the .exe file, which should install the program for you.

Try to download the programs again. look where they are going, all the other programs will be there too. Delete the extra programs and install just one.

    I hope that helps,

    Pete

I got the same problem. eventualy it became "no boot drive detected" and i lost all my files on that harddrive. anydvd is terrible software and i dont recoment it to anyone. it is smarter to wait a month or so untill newer versions of dvd shrink come out that are able to copy these new dvds.

Right bilbo65, Shrink won't be getting any updates that we know of.

@diabolus3. Anydvd is one of the best decrypters out there. Since it runs in the background I can't see what problem you are having with it. At times there are a few programs that conflict with it but not very many. You will also find out if you do some reading that many members are running Anydvd behind Shrink so it can still be used to decrypt and process the new movies and encryptions. Just thought your statement was way off base.

I agree with you Jerry. I've even used the Beta versions on about eight movies with absolutely no problems. Never have. Of course I don't have a number of similar programs running at the same time competing for the same resources and I don't use Nero which does appear to have conflicts in a few cases.

I couldn't get the Beta 5.0 to work at first. I corrected the problems last night. It was a Nero conflict of sorts. Now I have Clonedvd 2.8 and Anydvd 5.0 both working right. Also reinstalled Nero and its working too without the conflict.

ok there, i am a NEWBIE at this forum but dont act like some sort of bigshot. highlighting it out. anydvd does not take a rocket scientist to figure out. and yes my problem seems like i did it my self and am blaming on some innocent piece of software. but im not the only one who has had this problem. I did not format the drive because it was replaced due to dell warrenty. but i did try to run it as a slave and may computer wasnt able to pick it up, these are sata drives so it really doesnt take a rocket scientist for this ether. I would imagin that what ever anydvd does to you dvd player in order to make it opperate differently it did to my hard drive. I dont have the thread saved in which someone had the same problem but i know it exists. thanks. what i wanted to know is if anydvd has any competitor companys that do the same thing. dvd43 i tryed and it sucks. thanks there MEMBER
