I did have a problem w/ the burned DVDs playing on different DVDs in my house...but after I installed the DVD Cloner II update, I've been having no problems...the DVDs play on ALL DVD players in my house, computer and car.....the only thing is that it takes about an hour to burn one DVD..(30 mins to copy / 30 mins to burn)......
I continue to have problems -- even using the other programs suggested. There is no figuring it out, either. The DVD player will play anything burned with DVD Cloner II 2.4 or earlier, but refuses anything from 2.5 and above. The DVD Cloner folks continue to deny their is any problem with the program and insist there is nothing newer than just a straight 2.5 (they deny the existence of a 2.535 or whatever). I have a Sony DVD player that is about three years old and I have found online that a lot of people tend to get the error message I am getting -- "C13:00:00 The Disc Is Dirty."
OK...I did some beta testing for them..By God, there is a rebuild just like I posted. Make them give you the link for the rebuild!!I'm dissapointed that they will not update to where DVDD is at.They are dragging their feet.I have the rebuild and it works!!! However. I still use the 2.35
I have numerous progs, and at the beginning I used Cloner II and burned with media that only burns at 4x or less. You cannot change burn speed with Cloner 2, but you can make your target be the HD and then use Nero as your burner (you can adjust speed!). I now use predominatly Rebuilder Pro/CCE...Nero Iso burn. (Rebuilder can create ISO image to burn!)I also use Intervideo Dvd Copy 3 Platinum and Clone Dvd 2 (In my opinion far better quality of copy as compared to Dvd Cloner 2.). I use Taiyo Yuden 4x 01, and 8x 02's (when using 8x I use Nero Bruning Rom or Copy to Dvd! Both allow you to change the burn speed. I have found that TY's, Verbs, and Sony's burn great and play well in all my players! MovieDud
p.s. if you are looking for free...then use Decrypter, Smartripper, or Dvd Fab Decrypter and then encode with shrink (I prefer having it use the extra enhancements when encoding, as in my situation the quality looks better!) Yet, you can have Rebuilder and use the free encoders (HC by Hanks, QuEnc by Nic, and a great transcoder in ReJig) that is completely free. Rebuilder does an amazing job of creating a high quality back-up that is undiscernable from the original (I'm viewing mine on a 55 inch HDTV 16X9!...Quality counts!) I still use Dvd Cloner 2, just not as much as Rebuilder, Intervideo, CloneDvd 2! Great Media + Slow Burns = No Headaches!
kivory666 is right in the fact that there are better alternatives out there. Several have been mentioned. I still have Cloner II on the computer, just found that Intervideo (as long as the compression doesn't get below 4 for movies, and 3 for animation) is very good (one of the best!) it has some issues when re-authoring, but withthe customized button I believe (in my case) that it works great! Others will disagree and I understand, yet for me it works great. I love the user friendly control that Rebuilder provides and a support the ongoing creation of the program. The latest Rebuilder Pro RC 4.1 along with CCE Basic ($60.00) is hard to beat! Check it out and experiment with what works with your system and audio/video set-up! MovieDud
At this point I'm totally perplexed. DVD Cloner told me to uninstall 2.5, then go to their Web site and reinstall 2.5 which was now an improved version 2.50832. I did so and, again, the DVD plays on the PC and laptop, not on my Sony DVD player. Now using DVDFab Decrypter, Decrypter and DVD Shrink 3.2 I have the same problem -- the copy plays on laptop and PC, not on DVD player. DVDs I copied onto DVD using DVD Cloner 2.4 before all of this began play fine on the DVD player. Now no matter what version of what I use, I have the same problem. Admittedly, I'm still using Memorex DVDs, but why would the Memorex DVDs that were used pre-Cloner v2.5 still play and not those afterwards using any other method. Second: Can anyone help the technically impaired understand something about recordable DVDs? The DVD burner on my PC is a TEAC DVD+RW DV-W58E, if that means anything to anyone. It appears that the only DVDs that will copy using this burner are DVD-RWs. I've tried DVD-Rs and they don't work -- or, rather, if they copied they didn't play on the DVD player (I never thought to try playing them on the PC). Am I doing something wrong (likely) or should this be burning to any DVD+anything or even DVD-anything?
If this is your drive http://www.teac.co.jp/dspd/product/optical/dv-w58e.html It should write to +R and +RW disks, it will not do -R or -RW but it will read them.
Updating my Cloner II program helped...but I also switched my DVDs to +Rs...I was using +RWs. I was told that +Rs are more compatible w/ most players. So I guess I can't really say if it was the Cloner II upgrade that caused my DVDs to play on ALL my DVD players or if it were the fact that I switched to +R DVDs instead of +RWs...but all I know is that now my DVDs play perfectly ANYWHERE (so far) ...Good Luck
More than likely it is the disks, your burner is a +R and does that media. Your players may not want to play RW disks. Good luck and happy burning.
To all the folks who offered suggestions to one so technically challenged: thank you. In the end, all my problems were solved simply by using a different brand of discs (Verbatim). It didn't seem possible to me that the fix could be that simple -- after all, shouldn't all discs be alike? -- but in fact abandoning the Memorex discs (I willfully join the "Memorex Is Crap" club) for a different brand solved everything. But if I had not encountered these difficulties I would not have learned from all of you the other options available for backing up DVDs (there are some situations that DVD Cloner still cannot crack but Fab/Decrpyter/Shrink can), so there is an upside to my problems. Again -- thank you and I shall, no doubt, return if I have any further problems.
as i stated while back, it's ALL about the media~ that is WHY i never recommend memorex to ANYONE that is having problems glad you joined the club~ hehe good luck on your future burns
Hi, I've had DVD-Cloner 2 for about a year, and I've found that the best media to use is TDK-R. It is ranked higher than Fuji and Verbatim. Also you need to check your dvd owner's manual to see what media it plays. Most will play DVD-R, but some older and cheaper models (especially DVD/VCR combos) will not. Hope this helps.
I just purchased DVD Cloner II and while it records the DVD video I do not get any sound. What do you think the problem is? I used Maxell DVD+R media. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
i've regularly demonstrated my lack of technical understanding about dvd copying, so i can't help much on the sound issue. even for me with all the problems i've had, that's a new one. all i know is that since version 5 the only time dvd cloner II works for me is with high grade dvd+r discs. i no longer am able to play dvd+rws on my dvd player when using dvd cloner. plays on pc and lap top but will not play on any dvd player i've tried. even with that it will only copy about half the dvds i try. i've learned to live life without all the extras using dvd fab, shrink, etc.
