Might help if you enable DMA mode - go to your device manager to do this.

Hmm - Nero obvisouly thinks otherwise. Might be worthwhile uninstalling your drives and reboot Windows to reinstall.

Some further how to - courtesy of Nephilim

    Go to Device Manager >

Expand the tree for DVD/CD ROM Drives >

Find the drive in question, right click it and go to Properties >

Under the Driver tab, select Uninstall then OK.

Now reboot and Windows should detect and reinstall the drive.

If this doesn't help try the same steps as above except expand the tree for IDE ATA/ATA Controllers and uninstall either the Primary or Secondary controller depending on which one the drive in question is attatched to. Nero Info Tool can tell you which chain the drive is on under the Configuration tab.

So after experiencing 3-to-4-hour start-to-finish copying times, I was ecstatic when I backed up a movie in one hour.

THEN, I slipped in another for backup and the entire process - encoding and burning - took 20 minutes. Huh?!

Pete and BigO, Decrypter gives me information on my media - "Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: RITEK G04)". I know that you guys stress the importance of good media, and mine is TDK, so I was wondering if the information that Decrypter gave means that I have the "good" TDK or not, or if the information doesn't mean much.

Ok, here is the error message that I always get after the encoding process and when Decrypter is burning the file(s). I just click Cancel and proceed to a good finish . . .

    "I/O Error!

    Device: [1:0:0] SONY DVD-RW DRU-710A BY01 (D:) (ATA)

    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition

    Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 73 03 00 00 00 00
    Interpretation: Power Calibration Error"

    Any ideas?
