Hi, my DVD writer suddenly began to refuse to burn at high speeds. I can burn dvds at 1-2x even though my DVD writer allows 16x and I can't burn CDs that are 40x but I can that are 10x. This suddenly began after I attempted to burn on a 16x Philips DVD for the first time. I can now no longer burn HP 40x CDs (that I used to use all the time).

Is there a way to a) fix this b) figure out a way to limit the speeds that my DVD drive can run at?

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried another brand of disk? Phillips are not very good, at all, as are HP..

I had a look for a firmware update and could not find one.

By the way, here is some very good reading on your drive... The second page is where all the good info is answered lol
