dvd-drive

    My dvd drive is busted. Do I have to get a genuine M$ drive or can I just get any old dvd-rom drive and hook it up to it?
    A tut. would help out a lot!

    you have to get one that came from an xbox and i think you have to get one that came from your version but im not sure, when i put one in my 1.0 it errored me so i had to use my crappy one until the whole thing went out on me

    You can, but it has to be the same type as your old one. You can buy one at Divineo, but I'm not sure on how much they are now.

    How do you tell what ver. you have?

    on the top of your DVD drive, it will show if it's either Samsung or Hitachi. You also want to check your ROM version. It will also be on the top of your Drive, it should look like: ROM ver: 0047HK or something like that. The rom versions are different so it may not look like the one I displayed.

    when i changed my phillips for a samsung i just took the drive out and put the new one in and it worked perfect

    Dude, I haven't even heard of an Xbox 360 with a Phillips drive. Are you sure you're talking about Xbox 360, or about a PC?
