if you have it on dvd, just put it in to your computer and open movie maker and click on import video. Then find you dvd rom drive letter open it and click on open and it will take a little time but it will transfer to movie maker and then you can edit as you want ....

What kind of editing do you need to do. If it's already encoded to MPEG for DVD it would be best to stick to editing that doesn't require any re-encoding. There are programs that can either directly edit the DVD files or edit the MPEG-2 in the VOBs so you can make your own DVD from them. For editing DVDs I recommend looking at DVD ReMake (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/dvdremake.cfm) or DVD ReMake Pro (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvdremake_pro.cfm) For MPEG editing you could check out Womble MPEG2VCR (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/mpeg2vcr.cfm) or Video ReDo (http://www.drdsystems.com/VideoReDo/)
