Someone told me that the sticky labels would rot the dvd, is this true? I've never heard of it before

I cannot vouch for it as I don't use labels.

However, the heat dissapted across the surface of the disc from the laser could react with the adhesive and also cause a reaction with the disc material causing it to degrade.....
(ever felt a dvd that has been played for 3 hours - nice and warm)

Again I cannot substantiate this - just my opinion......

There you go, a happy user of labels - glad I was stating my opinion and not claiming fact....LOL

I still stand by my opinion, cos the label sits directly on the burning substrates - depending on how THICK those substrates are MAY depend on whether they can cause problems though....

I do not use labels, so in fairness my opinion maybe is not required.......LOL

    However there are always possibilities......LOL

PirateR there is one possiblity for you is to use screen cd's or Dvd's("If that is what they call them"), you know with there own color an logo design.

I feel these could be safe? "Just My Opinion"

You Opinion is Noted an Appreciated.. ;-)

labels on dvd's r a bad idea, the can make set top players freeze and judder and vibrate, dont bother mate !
as far as a label causing disc rot ?
    only if it gets wet.

and labrat ..try them in other set top players..

I have 4 different DVD Player not counting the one on my computer. 2 - Apex, 1 - Phillips, 1 - GE Player. They Play Just fine, have never noticed any vibration any picture jumping. I know some people would never, but I do, an have no problem with it.. So there you have it you either do or you don't that is the question..

I tend to agree with you. However, you will not get problems using labels if you place them on a DVD Printable disc. Just make sure that you use a good abeller as alignment is an important factor in playbacl. Also, wait until the disc is recorded before you put the label on.
