I am running current versions of anydvd and dvd clone. I started to make a backup of HarryP and installed a blank dvd+r in the drive and the plextor does not see the blank media in the drive. I tried about a dozen -r and +r disc and it would never see them. If you installed a game or software disc it would see it. I then installed a new plextor px-716al thinking the drive was the problem but get the same results. Any help on where to look next? Thanks p

How would updating the firmware fix the problem. Since I am having the same problem with two different drive models?

the brand of media prolly isnt supported by either of the drives... updating firmwareis supposed to make it more compatible-maybe both drives need updating

Updated firmware for both the dvd drive and the dvdr drive with the same results. I thinking the last update from clone and anydvd are the source of the problem. I will try turning back to old version tomorrow.

Something else I just tried. I took a stack of blank dvds +&- and started to try them in the drive. On each disc it would show free space 0 and used space 0 until in stuck in a cd-r just to see what that would show. The cd-r would show free space as 702 mb like it should but when it was installed into my dvd drive the drive would not even detect that there was a disc in the tray. Is it time to change to nero?
