dvd-r disc with 4.7 GB a good thing or bad thing? i mean.....

    i brought some the other day but I dont know if it's have high-capacity or not. because while i was burning this movie, a box boxed up said that i needed a medium with higher capacity.

    You only really have just under 4.4gb on a 4.7gb dvdr,
    theres a math formula that explains it but i dont understand it. I just stay with the magic number 4.36gb, some people put more on but then your just asking for trouble writting on the outter edge of your discs.

    most movies are bigger than the discs you can burn, so programs like dvd shrink are needed to compress the movie so it fits.
