ok so I was reading the beginner sticky on buying the blank media from japan or honk kong....but I've been to multiple stores and ended up just buying the fuji film dvd+r dl made in taiwan. Will I encounter any problems? Just making sure before I open it because they were 40 bucks and am not wanting to waste the money.

The only reliable dl media is Verbatim.

I used them last night just to make sure and they worked perfectly. Probably going to switch to the verbatims once I run out of these though. Thanks for the help

I have had good luck with RiDATA DL discs and my burner is the first one (brand/model) made to burn DL discs. I forgot the Brand/Model of my burner, but I don't want to pull it out just for this post. If in doubt, go with the recommendation above for Verbatim discs - good brand.
