SGDVD, its good to hear that finally, you are making an effort to.. well, not sound damn ignorant. In the last few posts, I see your point. It is far different in tone than your first post, which was pretty pathetic. Yea yea, DVD-R is far from perfect copies, which is why I kept saying over and over again about dual layer - which you did acknowledge.

It all depends on what you want, really. I copy PS2 games mostly which are DVD5 and I'm not super crazy about movies so I usually buy the ones I really want and copy the others... of course after layered burners I will probably never buy a DVD again.

As for blu-ray... everyone should be anticipating it, I don't see why not. Its good stuff. That doesn't mean I still wont be making DVD9s either. I've mentioned b4 that blue-ray is the next BIG thing, dvds will NOT die out, and it WILL be possible to make perfect copies. Simple as that.

Too bad your not a girl.

He's got a good point. I don't understand why none of the people he said didn't know anything have gone to his house to hold his hand while he backs up his DVDs. I mean we all get paid big bucks to help immature children who cry about how something's no good because they don't understand it right? 8D

alseids i totally agree about games.
as for ps2 games i personally made 30 to 40 and never had a problem at all, but then i finally swapped out my ps2 for an xbox. games are worth it totally as consoles & games are outdated all the time. by the time the discs fail it won't matter as you will have an updated console.

as for movies i got sick of ripping them, compressing them then burning them, and then after a few months they would skip on one dvd player then play fine on another........pain in the arse.

i'm not really talking about the game side of dvd-r cause that really was worth doing as games are much more expensive if they are damaged. easy as piss to do rip an image and burn. movies are cheap enough now days.

for the record i do know how to back up a dvd and have never done it wrongly, was easy to join flippers with vob edit (before dvd2one had this feature), my mistake was listening to these fusking idiots about quality media. after that i will never use another budget dvd-r again, verbs & tdk only for me.

i ain't stupid at all, probably know a lot more about backing up dvd-r than most of you in this thread, never said i couldn't back them up or was stuck, oh well, what i was trying to say was if some dvd-r media are failing after a few months, how long will the best last ? and i don't think it will be even 5 years, so to me after weighing it out i'd rather not bother.

cd-r does not last it's expected lifetime but who gives a shit, cd's are a faster process all round.

    [bold]vurbal:[/quote]Oh!
    Sarcasm.....
And there was me thinking that you were proposing we should help SGDVD out with his problems!!!

Actually, come to think of it..... ;)

We are all here to help out, aren't we???

So why don't we all (those of us U.K. based anyway) arrange to pop down to Devon and give him a visit..

We could see what he is doing wrong with his backup procedures (though it is difficult to imagine WHAT he could be doing wrong, seeing as he has a Pioneeer A05 and uses Verbatim disks - maybe it is his old and slow system).... ;)

Anyhow, we could get together and have a look,
he could explain to us all how we are wrong,
and we could explain to him where he is going wrong...

We could all pile into his little room and make with the Oooohhs and Aaaahhs over his Home Theatre system, maybe play some of our DVDs and see if we can notice any pixellation etc...

As long as he keeps the kids out, there should be enough room, Eh!!

So, go on SGDVD, invite us down so we can socialise with you, so we can bury the hatchet - those of Irish descent are noted for being sociable, after all...

    Have Fun....

    Oh dear!
I DID take the time to analyse your previous posts on this site, and a few on other sites as well (diyaudio etc) and mapped the data I found into a Psychometric Profiler package.

The majority of your posts showed relative stability and maturity, with a number of minor glitches up till May '03.
The next spike in the graph shows approx two months later - insufficient time for the pent-up frustration and anger to dissipate.
You seem to have had a bad time - but got through it.
Of more recent times your unrelieved sense of frustration and general malaise has come to the fore, hence the emotional instability that others have noticed.

Life is not really that bad, you know..
You will get through it - women can be SO difficult to understand at times, I do sympathise.

It is unfortunate that you are in such emotional turmoil at the moment, if you really want to get better, YOU will have to make the changes....

When I offered the pipe of peace, made the first moves towards establishing a rapport in an attempt to assist you onto the path back to sanity, you resort to sarcasm..
you talk of me being a stalker..

    Classic rejection syndrome.
Attribution of evil intent upon the action of others.
    Persecution complex.

You believe you cannot be helped, or even believe that there is nothing wrong with you whatsoever.

Being in denial will not help you overcome your illness - it will just bury itself deeper in your psyche and fester away, until it errupts uncontrollably.

When that happens (and it will, without you admitting to yourself that you need help, and actually believing in yourself again), you will be endangering those you love the most....

Does it not frighten you, the possibility that you would, when your illness finally takes over, be the person most likely to abuse your own children??

It bothers me, and I am sure it would bother everyone with at least a modicum of civilized behaviour..

Please, for your sake (and the sake of your loved ones) do not spend this difficult time in denial, go and seek some help - there is very little I can do to help you, however willing I might be...

I am sure most people here would offer you moral support in this trying time...

You just have to believe in yourself, and avoid the trap of Denial...

From one human being to another.
    You have my sympathy ;)
