It seems that Rebuilder Pro v 1.27.0 AND 1.27.1 are now broken on Linux running Wine. This may not be just a Linux issue as there have been some issues with the latest updates on Windows as well.

Here is a post at Doom9
    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=134982

Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, if not Ver. 1.26.6 still works very well.

see if this helps, there's a 1.27.2 version out; it's no interest to me as i don't use wine but i knew you'd be wanting to know; snippet from http://www.jdobbs.com/9406-6050-4720-9782-0750-1258/DVD-RB_v1.272Pro.txt -

We have a new sticky for DVD-RB updates here too - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/628175

Still not working, but I am sure it can be fixed as V.1.26.6 and the free V.0.98.2 still work very well. I am not a programmer by any means, but I have a feeling this may be due to a conflict with Wine's debugger.

Don't hold your breath.. they are broken because the apps have been updated for fista.

For now you can use k9copy, acidrip, dvdauthor and dvdstyler tovid/todisk to achieve the same result natively without all the wine BS ;)

Sorry but none of those programs come close to the quality of Rebuilder.... and version 1.26.6 still works perfectly on Linux with Wine. Jdobbs is also working on a fix for this issue, check out Doom9.

Could you be more specific Drogondog? Are you still not able to run RB for whatever reason?

    Hi guys,

I was able to get the free version to work, but I'm having trouble with 1.28.2 Pro. I have tried with several different versions of wine, but I keep getting the same error popping up after I click "back up DVD." The error message reads "DVD Rebuilder experienced an error when attempting to open DVD." The Log is pasted bellow. Let me know what you guys think the problem is.

    [21:21:10] One Click encoding activated...

    [21:21:10] 00000 00009 -- error attempting to open DVD.

    - PREPARE Aborted. No source.

    Aborted.

@ Wolfmanz--What version of wine are you using with RB-Pro 1.28.2?

Running Wine 1.0 out of the Ubuntu Gutsy repositories everything seems OK on my set-up. Haven't really been doing many movies lately too busy with other projects. I will do some testing when I get some free time.

I managed to get DVD-RB Pro 1.28.2 and everything else up and running with wine 9.56. For whatever reason wine 1.0 wouldn't run RB-Pro or ripit. I'm using Linux Mint 5-r1 which is based off of Ubuntu 8.04.1. Since I'm currently dual booting XP-Pro and Linux Mint I thought it would be cool to do a comparison. The Logs are pasted Below. Pretty cool huh? Both end up taking 99 minutes to complete even though XP was faster at encoding while Mint was faster at preparing and rebuilding. I just noticed however that XP-Pro was using avisynth 2.58 while Mint was using 2.57. I'm going to retest having Mint run avisynth 2.58 aswell.

*Re-tested with avisynth 2.58 on Mint. No change in speed

I invite everyone interested to check out this thread over at doom9 regarding error 00000 00009 that I and some other users have been getting with RB-Pro on wine. We could use all the help we can get figuring this out.

I am running into an error that I have seen a couple of others but have not seen any solution posted. I am getting the error extracting mpeg error.

    [Time] 00026 00005 -- error extracting MPEG
    [Time] 00026 00005 -- error extracting MPEG
    - PREPARE aborted

    I am running Ubuntu 8.10
    Wine 1.0.1-0
    DVD-RB v 1.28.2
    AVisynth 2.5.6

    any ideas?

I have tried AVisynth 2.5.5 and .7 with same results.

Have you seen this thread over at Doom9
    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=141023

I am still running Ubuntu 7.10 and Rebuilder 1.26. with none of these issues. The newer releases of Rebuilder are not as stable on Wine IMO.

I just finished building a new dual core system and have Ubuntu 8.10 installed if I ever get the time I will do some testing.....
