My new Toshiba laptop has a MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-852S drive. I cannot get DVDidle or any other software to allow me to watch movies from outside region 2. Does anyone know of any firmware to make my drive region free? Or any other solutions? Cheers, Lee
see here re firmware solution (or lack of it). i was going to suggest dvdgenie - http://www.inmatrix.com/genie/ however it seems that won't work on RPC2-locked drives (i've used dvd genie a lot over the years but i deliberately only buy burners that i know can be 'region-freed') so have almost always avoided this very problem. anyways, you sure you didn't look here for other DVD Idle/DVDFab ideas - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2411
yea, I've tried DVDidle and Fab to no avail Should the Matshita UJ-852 firmware work on Matshita UJ-852S? Or would this entail a big risk? Cheers, Lee
