What would be the best DVD Rom Drive to purchase. I would like one with plenty of hacked firmware available.Currently have a Lite-On 166S in one computer and have hade no prob. Is this still a good drive to purchace. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Moved to appropriate forum. You'll have a hard time finding that particular drive right now, but you can get its replacement, the 167T, and it's probably cheaper than your 166S was. From what I've read it's just as good. I also have the 166S and I think you'll do just fine with another Lite-On.
@ kbm i went to Newegg to find that lite-one 167 as you were talking about, didn't see it can you send me a link maybe??? maybe search wasn't right
@kbm or others sorry i found it listed, was wondering, what is the difference between the 167t, white OEM and the 167t,black retail?? or which one to get? thanks again, i'm running windows XP and already have a dvd burner..cd rom installed sorry about the wrong forum
Sometimes the Retail drives will ship with limited software whereas the OEM drives is just the drive. If you already have software I would purchace the OEM drive to save a few bucks.
