I haven't had this problem in the past until now. Usually when I backup a movie, it works fine and I burn it with DVD Decrypter. I had burned some older movies like, White Men Can't Jump and Major League w/o a problem. When it came to a lot of newer movies like, Lets Go To Prison an DejaVu I ran into some problems. First problem is the movie plays, but it skips from time to time. It's almost like I don't know when it's going to happen it just does. I have tried to burn "DejaVu" but also ran into problems. First of all the DVD itself was to big so I had to remove the Spanish AC3 2-ch and a lot of other useless things that didn't need to be on the disc. It fit to the disc and everything was fine until I ran into a problem. It would get to 4% and the drive itself (E:) would bring up a "incorrect function" message. I haven't had this problem with any of this until now and it questions if the DVD Driver I have is just crap. I honestly don't know the name of the DVD-Drive, it might've been Disc Doctor or Disc Spin, some no name brand that doesn't show up in my Device Manager.

Also I have tried Nero and got nothing but problems once again. The program freezed on my multiple times

If there is an alternative to DVD Shrink 3.2 that is free, then please post it

    Thanks in advance

Shrink is a very old program now, that's not updated anymore so you will have problems with the newer encryptions that are on the new DVDs! you will have to use other programs to copy or to help shrink out with the encryptions! here are some programs to help you:

AnyDVD + CloneDVD..... these are easy programs to use and are member favorites around here. They are updated constantly to keep up with newer encryptions that come out. you get a 21 day free trial period to see if you like the programs.... you will like them... then you will have to buy them. or........ the free route:

Ripit4Me is great and free but it's discontinued now. Still does all the new movies out there! do a google!

DVDFab HD Decryter will rip the new movies to the hard drive then you can use Shrink with them! and it's free and it's updated often: http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

try these programs out..... see which ones are for you...... there are plenty more programs out there but these are member favorites and you can't go wrong with them!

one more thing....... use good quality media so you won't get skipping, pixelations, or freezing or not compatible with your players! Stick to the MIJ rule (made in Japan). Check the box or spindle and make sure it says MIJ .... Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Fuji, Maxell are some brands MIJ! but check the label on those Sony, Fuji, Maxells..... they do some out sourcing in Taiwan... stay away from those! the best disks agreed upon here are Taiyo Yuden (these are always MIJ!) and Verbatim (made in Taiwan/Singapore) and the only exception to the MIJ rule.... top notch media!

    Download these 3 files
    Shrink: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_.../dvd_shrink.cfm
    Dvd Decrypter: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/
    ripit: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/RipIt4Me

Make sure DVD Decrypter and Shrink are installed before you install Ripit.

Or you can try Dvd fab HD decrypter.

    dvdfab decryp: http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

    Guides: http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/Guides.htm

    Read The Guides.

Get Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim discs

Burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the Disc

Adjust the target size in shrink to 4300 mbs (see Guides on proceedre)
