[Sorry for the duplication but my earlier post didn't show up until this one posted!]

    Hi All:

I have some 1080i and 720p MPEG2 HD files (*.ts or *.mpg) that are too big (but not by much) to fit on either single layer or dual layer DVDs. Historically, I've used DVD Shrink to address this problem with standard DVDs and, as I understand it, the program modifies the bit rate in selected areas to shrink the overall file size. Clearly, I'd like to do the same thing with my 1080i files without having to re-encode the whole file (or convert to h264) and was wondering whether any such program exists? I've tried requant in Avidemux but it does not work with HD files.

    Does such a thing exist?

Is there anything similar for AVC/mkv files?

    Thanks!
