Is it really necessary to use the deep analyzing feature or just a waste of time?

I think it's necessary only if you plan on compressing to more than 65%. It does increase picture quality in the long run.

I personally use Deep Analysis for 80% and lower.

Whether/when to use it is also highly subjective to the equipment used to view the backups individual's tastes.

I'd recommend getting a few RW's and experimenting with different compression levels to find out what works for you :)
