Cool thanks, do you have a website that you buy dvd's from? Cheapest places? I'm looking right now on ecost.com and 41 dollars for a 50 spindle... that sound about right? Would I still be able to used these phillips disc for just data? or would my burner not burn on them for anything?

Thanks for your help.. I'll be ordering some verbatim's today most likely.

If you don't print the label directly on the disc I would go with #2. If you do print than #3 which also has free shipping.
Both 2 & 3 have metal azo dye which is the best.

I usually just write on the disc with a sharpie... so that means I should go with #3?

Check the shipping - #3 might be the better deal due to free shipping but it will have a white matte top for a printer like the Epson R200/300 series to print to. #2 has a shiny silver top good for sharpies. If you don't care about what the top of the discs look like - cost wise #3 will save a few bucks. Shipping to my area at least is around $7.50.
So #2 would cost $38.50 and #3 would cost $35
All 3 choices are good but I would stick wth #2 or #3 due to the metal azo dye.

Well, I still haven't received my Verbatim's... but my dvd writer just messed up last night, I was going to burn a audio cd and I put the cd in and it just froze up it stopped reading I had to actually restart the computer and then the drive started messing up, it looked like it was stuck it wouldn't open and just messing up just like the one I had before this (same brand, BenQ replaced it because it did mess up). Is it maybe not getting the right amount of power? I'm going to have to call benq monday and see if they wont replace it again...

So it looks like I won't be able to tell you wether or not the media was causing the error...

That sucks about your drive. Hardware is not my forte - so I can't really help you with that. I'd hate to give you incorrect advice that's beyond my scope. Hopefully another member will see this that can help.
If not Tech Support with BenQ should be able to.
You should be receiving your order soon - it usually takes a little over a week to receive if you picked UPS ground.

oh dear that doesn't sound good....you say the drive has messed up before

    - just an observation, it should have nothing to do with your problem, Your hard drives are on the secondary IDE channel.

Hope you figure something out with the Benq. It wouldn't have been the firmware that did it as all we did was put a new version on. hmmm strange problem you got there..

Not this particular drive but another BenQ drive did this same exact thing, and they replaced it... If this is just the drive's fault then I'm getting pretty ticked off with BenQ... Maybe I should switch the IDE channels?

if that was my PC then yes i'd switch the devices around on the channels but for one i don't think that's the problem, and for two i don't want you to break anything!. I do hear good things about Benq drives however
