dvd wont play...writes onto the dvd but doesnt play

I would advise you to do a complete clean up in terms of spyware/adware/viruses. Here, download, update & run in this order.

Check for Spyware. Spyware can cause system stability problems. I would check-out a free tool titled "Spybot" to scan your PC.
