hi crc - cyclic redundancy errors useally mean dirty or scrathed discs could try cleaning it with furniture polish? there not much you can do to the vobs but it seems odd if before you copy the video ts folder it plays good on video/audio from the dvdrw then you copy video ts and the quality has gone bad? does dvd decrypter in file mode and main movie only copy it to hard drive ok?
@Jane1 - even i'm struggling to get to grips with your last reply. too much going on for my little brain!. i shall have a ponder... but for the ulead** folder thingy i'm sure i suggested (at the beginning) copying just the video_ts folder to hard disc and re-burning to another dvd from there. However i've been ploughing thru my night before's backlog of posts and i've got brain-fade!
Hello Mr. creaky, I shall write a few sentences to refresh your memory. A friend gave me DVD R movie that played on my standalone DVD player BUT not my pc’s DVDROM. It has 3 folders Audio_TS, Video_TS, ULEADDMF, size around 4.3 GB. As you advised I asked a colleague of mine to copy the Video_TS folder & than burn it on to a new DVD R OR I can play it from the drive. Following are the results of that newly burned DVD: Finally got the DVD copied to the hard drive than got it burnt on a new Vertex DVD R media. 1. Only 2 GB of the 4.2 got copied & burned, most likely the rest of the files were corrupted? 2. copied only the Video_TS folder. 3. When I played it was fine, but while looking at the properties of the VOB files they were mpeg-2 type. What does that mean? That they were VCD files copied to a DVD? 4. The Video & Audio quality is not the same as I normally see on other DVD movies. Why? 5. Is there any software with which I could edit/improve the video & audio quality? The picture isn’t as crisp & sharp. Feels like am watching a VCD movie. 6. The movie has 2 files, VOB_1& 2, but they won’t Auto play. I have to manually select the files while using power DVD & than play them. Any specific reason? I hope I refreshed your memory lol. Waiting to hear your experienced views.
i have to go out now, but here's a quick clue - Vertex DVD-R 4x (AML.........) - did a search for Vertex and so far the only one i can find uses a manufacturers code of 'AML' see here - http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm and from here - http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.p...rder=Name&hits=25&search=Search+or+List+Media - i'm still none the wiser. Did i ask you to run dvdinfopro (free) at some point ?. If not, do thst and put this Vertex media thru a media info check and paste the results, it could well be 'utter rubbish' quality. sorry thats my latest phrase for media as i come across 10 or 20odd posts a day due to crap media... Will try and look at the other questions later, but maybe our friend Rotary can help in the meantime, hint hint !!
lol, rub it in that we were dealing with a doppelganger or shapeshifter all along. Sorry i'm just an x-files freak
