Hello, I am not sure if this is the right post and if its not I am sorry but I need some major help. I just got dvd copy x platinum and everything burned fine. When I went to play the movie through out it at every chapter change the movie skipped all over. This is the first dvd I have ever burned and I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Can you please help me out? How can I fix this dvd skipping problem when I burn dvds? Thank You Very much
First things first with Xcopy software. Do this and try another burn, but only after completing all STEPS This software blacklist applies only to the DVD X Copy line (including DVD Copy Plus), as well as burn-related issues with other 321 Studios software titles: 1. B's Clip: This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove programs, then reboot to remove it. For more information, visit the B's website at http://www.bhacorp.com. 2. Direct CD or Drag to Disk: These are applications from Easy CD Creator from Roxio. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. To remove them you need to do to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. There you can select Easy CD Creator to change, not remove. Then you must click next until it gives you the option to modify. Then either Direct CD or Drag to Disk should be selected and changed to "make this option not available". Then click next and while the program may look like it is installing, it is removing those options. One thing to remember is that both Direct CD and Drag to Disk will not be installed at the same time. GoBack: backup software that constantly runs in the background (Terminate and Stay Ready) this needs not only to be turned off, but disabled. Unfortunately, this may cause some restore points to vanish, but it will free up a lot of hard drive space. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove programs, then reboot to remove it. 5. InCD: This is packet writing software that comes bundled with Ahead Nero Burning Rom. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove programs, then reboot to remove it. Interactual Player and PC Friendly Player: These programs are DVD software viewers that often come on DVD movie discs, and will try to install themselves everytime you watch a movie on your computer. Please make sure to NOT let these install. Both programs interfere with all 321 Studios software and should be un-installed from Add or Remove programs in control panel when found. In some cases, you will need to uninstall and reinstall our software to restore functionality after removing one of these. For more information about both players, visit http://player.interactual.com/ 7. McAfee Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar. The 321 Studios software then needs to be restarted. Whenever you are using our software, McAfee needs to be disabled to ensure unrestricted access to your drive. For more info go to McAfee's website at http://us.mcafee.com/default.asp 8. Norton Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar and the automatic updates should be disabled. The 321 Studios software then needs to be restarted. StopZilla: StopZilla can hinder required portions of our installer, causing the software to fail. Please completely disable StopZilla, then install our software. Once our software is installed, you may safely enable it again. If you have any difficulty using our software at a later time, you may need to disable StopZilla before going to use our software. Uninstallation is not required. 10. MyStorageGuard: This backup software can hinder certain required files from being copied during the installation. Please disable this program before installing our software, and have it disabled any time you go to use our software. Uninstallation is not required. 11. Napster 2.0: This software includes some basic burning software that can cause burning problems if it is running. You will need to close this program completely before trying to use our software. In some rare cases, you will need to completely uninstall this package to attain full reliability, so if disabling does not solve your issue, please try uninstalling this software, and try again. 12. Easy CD Creator 4.x: Due to the age of this package, it is no longer updated by the authors. There are bugs present in this older system that will cause NUMEROUS problems on your machine, not just with our software. Please Uninstall completely, and consider either the new 6.x version from Roxio (http://www.roxio.com) or Nero 6.x (http://www.nero.com). These packages, installed without the Packet Writing software (DirectCD/Drag to Disk/InCD), all work very well together with our software. Spyware and Adware - some programs can install other software that can be damaging to your Operating System. Please scan for these programs with a Spyware utility. We recommend Ad-Aware, available freely at http://www.lavasoftusa.com If you perform any of these changes, you may need to uninstall our software, then re-install to fix any damage left. If you find some of these packages, please shut down and reboot twice to ensure that the last pieces of the conflicting software are completely removed.
that is alot to do, I'm just curious, is this a common problem or is it just my system. I am brand new at dvd burning and I really don't undertsand half that stuff. I'm sorry to be a pain in the butt but could you just explain a little more in detail how to fix this problem. Basically, everytime the movies goes to a chapter change it doubles back to chapters to the past, and freezes when it gets back to that point. I have only burned one dvd, so could it also just be that dvd?
Hi soccerman, I know that the 321blacklist can be overwhelming, but the blacklist shows the software that conflicts with Xcopy and the blacklist shows the resolution. Why dont you print it out and check them off as you complete them 1 by 1. Please be thorough, this is a must.
so basically just uninstall all of those programs I have, which I know I have the INCD from nero and I think I have the roxio, uninstall those and turn my norton onto disabled, and give the burn another try. Sounds good. IF the problem pursists I will let you know. Thank You very much for your time and help.
Hey man, just a quick q. I did everything you said and it worked perfectly. Exceot now, there is no dvd menu or special features. How do I get those back? The skipping was fixed but now the menu didn't show up or the special features. Thank you in advance for youre help.
soccerman, Try to check the box "entire disc" on the Xpress console,the only problem is that with this setting the movie compresses more. ispy
soccerman, Is it the same movie that you had success with?.Sometimes I have had this with movies that are scratched or even slightly marked,then after a good clean have been OK.When I had skipping problems even though setup was allright I changed from cheap media to Ritek G04 DVD-R,s as recomended by many people on AD. It the same exact dvd and the same brand, Memorex, which are good quality. I just want to get the menues back on the movie in general. Is there an option I have to click to gaurentee a full exact copy of the disc?
Hello, I am posting back because I have tried some of the solutions here. I tried using xcopy xpress again last night and it went all the way to about 1 minute and then it said it had a "sector error" ? and then canceled. I remember burning before in like 30-45 minutes and now it is taking forever like 2-3 hours. I have checked dma and it did not seem to make much difference. What else should I be looking at? just food for thought , my system specs with dvdxcopy platinum , liteon 166s dvdrom ,sony dru500ax burner , 3.06 ghz cpu ,1024 mbs ram , 200gb 7200rpm seagate harddrive , xp pro , i have no aspi layer installed at all , thats correct zero aspi layer installed ! my average rip times are 12 to 15 minutes and average burn times are 15 to 25 minutes , burner only burns at 4x max , all drives are dma mode , most movies take no longer than 40 to 45 minutes start to finish with my setup , others results may differ from mine depending on software installed , this machine is for dvd backup and thats it , no other software installed .
Soccerman, Even if the disc stated "disc is encrypted" click ok and it will still enable you to burn. If you have any problems, restart xpress. Hope this helps, that is what I did. Rob
Ok I did that and it wont let me burn, it said "Encrypted Data" and then restarted. It didnt let me burn. How do I use the "entire disc" copy option?
Soccerman Dont know which version of Platinum that you are running. Lets try the ol un/reinstall method. Follow these steps. Once you've completed the steps try another burn , be certain and select simple,entire disk option. Here are the un/reinstallation steps. To correctly uninstall the Xcopy software. In control panel>add/remove>dvd xcopy, click remove.,if Platinum, removed Xrescue also. Goto My computer>double click c:>program files>321 studios, now delete xcopy folder. Now back to the desktop. Empty the recycle bin and reboot twice. This is the correct method to uninstall xcopy
321sucker, can you please leave me a detailed description of how to install and use 321Gone. I would be greatly appriciative. I have gotten the read times down to 20-40 minutes and it takes approx. 15 minutes to burn. You are awesome. Thanks to everyone again!
