My setup: DRU500a with 1.f firmware Samsung 12x DVD-ROM RecordNow Max 4.5 demo version DVD20ne trial version DVDDecryptor 3.4.1 Sony DVP-NS400D set top What I've tried ,using Memorex DVD-R (version 2.0) @2.x, and Maxell DVD-RW (version 1.1) @1.x media: 1.)Ripped ALL files in file mode from a 7 GB DVD using DVDDecryptor but not into the default destination directory it picked. I used a different VIDEO_TS directory (all caps) 2.) Ran DVD2one trial and got my 30 minutes of DVD vid in about 5 minutes. It was also put into a different VIDEO_TS destination directory 3.) Burned DVD using RNM 4.5 with these settings: Track at once closed, UDF Joliet 106 characters(blahblah), Had to change the VIDEO_TS destination directory to all caps by right clicking on it and choosing the option to modify it (forget exact wording). This directory is in RED as expected. (Maybe this is the issue ??? This same folder shows up in caps in Windows Explorer, but not by default in RNM) 4.) DVD burns and plays beautifully on the DRU500a (using both media types) but my DVP-NS400D set top plays about 1 second of each chapter then skips to the next chapter, then to the next etc etc....until the end By the way, in DVD2one I selected the standard English audio and subtitles. I have successfully ripped/burned a 4.3GB DVD with DVDDecryptor in ISO mode on the Memorex DVD-R media and it plays in this same set top. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or what to try ?? What are the correct setting for RNM 4.5 ? Maybe my DVDDecryptor settings are wrong ? Thanks alot !
Used dvd decrypter on file mode then opened dvd2one but when it comes to the audio selection, 6 ch or 2 ch,6ch is 5.1 which works perfectly but 2ch is the commentary, how do i get normal 2ch sound? Where am I going wrong cause i'm gonna go crazy.
@Newtoy I tried using RNM to burn a DVD and my set top had an issue playing it as well. I then burned another copy of the same files using Nero and it worked on the set top box. Maybe try Nero and see what the results are. -Coffdog
dRD: You know I just tried the original in my dvd player and you're right. I f****d up big time there, sorry to waste anybodys time. Do you get alot of DVDs that dont have 2ch audio cause not everyone can afford 5.1? Cheers dRD.
Gazr: Virtually all new disc only contain 5.1, since all players can mix the 5.1 on-fly to 2.0 in case you have only stereo output available, so it's not an issue.
Thanks Coffdog for the reply. I'm gonna' hold off on Nero for now. Trying to avoid installing/uninstalling too many apps. Seems like alot of people have had success with RNM, and DVD2one even recommends avoiding NERO for burning. I'm starting to think maybe my setting in Decrypter were wrong. What is everyone using to rip all files to HD for settings ? I didn't intentionally set anything special. I just selected all files in File mode and ripped away. Thanks newtoy
newtoy : If you come up with a solution to your skipping please let me know. I am having the same problem with my Sony DVD player. Does anybody think it's because only 30 minutes is recorded on the "trial" DVD? I have burned with Nero and Record Now with the same results. Thanks.
Well it works, it's small and it's quick, but at what cost. I just tried it with Minority Report (2 hours 19 minutes)and the differrence between it and re-encoding with CCE is immediately obvious, it's not just artefacts, which appear in dark places, the whole thing looks grainy.I haven't done Minority Reprt with CCE yet but Gladiator at 2hors 28 minutes was indistiguiable from the original after a 3 pass re-encode with CCE. This may be an unfair comparison given the cost of both and the time taken for each. However, the whole reason that I have a DVD player is that I wanted great quality if I had wanted grainy films I would have bought a high end VCR. I see that it has a place for those that want the 'fast food' of DVD copying or for those that want simplicty for films that are less than 4.3Gb when stripped but If you want quality you need to either split the disc or take the time. Do we know how DVD2one works yet? If it isn't re-encoding what is it doing?
@newtoy sorry for my english i'm italian i use DVD2ONE with Lord Of The Ring 1 (special edition dvd 1) dvd2one finish and i burn my dvd with nero (dvd-video standard menĂ¹) i see the dvd in samsun (dvd standard alone) and after 2 or 3 capter the video is stop a test some standard in nero but not some media dvd-r bye bye
Malum : Do we know how DVD2one works yet? If it isn't re-encoding what is it doing? It's compressing, by using our own lightning fast compression algorithm. And that isn't the same as indeed re-encoding. DVD2one uses the original encoded stream as input and by doing so you can experience some grain and artifacts on long movies (2 1/2 hours and more). I admit CCE does a way beter job at that then DVD2one ever will, but that's like comparing an apple and a orange. Their both fruit yet very different. LastAngel: It could be nero, nero is known for outputting not 100% compatible discs. Please try RecordNow MAX 4.x or higher.
Thanks for the reply. I did state that I wasn't being fair in the comparison. I am also extremely fussy maybe I notice things that others don't. I just watched a bit more of the dvd2one version of Minority report and it was pretty awful, but I suspect that if I showed my wife she wouldn't notice. When the CCE version is ready tomorrow I might try that experiment, it would be a good test, I won't tell her which is which. I expect it works well on shorter films
hehe, well minority report, saving private ryan, bourne identy, lotr are the movies i read the most complains about. And it's your right to be picky, we did some watching tests on a 42" plasma with a couple of friends before releasing the 1.0 version. Most people didn't notice it, they where to busy following the movie that the little artifacts did not bother them. Just to the test with some friends, and i bet most of them won't even notice the artifacts if they're really watching a movie instead of trying the "spot a dot game"
And seriously, most people are more than happy with crappy aerial analogue TV signal and -- aww -- mono audio with their 20" Pfjongjang TV sets And some people demand to have digital TV and 36"+ widescreen Sony Trinitron and AC3 audio. So, seriously, dvd2one suits for really, really big portion of the population -- but for perfectionists, I wouldn't even CCE the clips, but simply split the movies in half and buy a decent 300+1 changer from Pioneer or Sony For me, the faster-and-easier-than-IFOEdit stripping of unnecessary stuff from 6.3GB Disney discs that actually contain only 3-4GB of main movie, is the most important thing with this tool. If it seems that DVD has to be re-encoded, I simply use DVDXCopy to split it (yes, yes, I'm _seriously_ lazy, too lazy to use IFOEdit ;-).
Hey dvd2one, Please answer this for me. I'm interested in buying your program but first need some info. Summarizing my earlier posts in this forum, I have used DVD Decrypter to rip ALL files in file mode, and NO special options set, Run the TRIAL version of DVD2one using the VIDEO_TS folder containing ripped files, and gave a new destination VIDEO_TS file for DVD2one output. (The ripped files are about 7GB total.) Then I burned the 30 minutes of video using RecordNow Max v4.5 and also or RecordNow DX v4.6 to both a Maxell DVD-RW and a Memorex DVD-R. The DVDs play fine on my DRU500a drive on PC, but on my set top (Sony DVP-NS400D), only a second or 2 of each chapter plays, then automatically it skips to the next chapter and plays for a second, then the next etc etc, until the last chapter is reached. Is this normal for the trial version ? I'd hate to purchase DVD2one only to find that the full version will do the same Should I change my RecordNow settings ? I've been using Track-at-once Closed, UDF with Joliet, and burning the VIDEO_TS folder which is all in caps. I've successfully burned a DVD5 (no need for DVD2one of course) using these same tools, settings, and the Maxell DVD-RW media. I've also successfully burned this same DVD5 using DVD Decrypter in ISO mode, to Memorex DVD-R. Any help is much appreciated !!! newtoy
Nope that was a bug we discovered that only excists in the trial version. We have it fixed and it will be in the new trial version. That new version will be up as soon as the server troubles are over.
@DVD2One I have purchased the program and have found it much easier to use than other methods that currently exist. I would like to ask a couple of questions. 1. When patches or new versions come out will an email be sent to those who have purchased the program stating such and what has been changed? 2. Is it possible to list on the website what bugs currently exist? 3. Is it possible to list on the website what bugs/enhancements are due in the next release or patch? Thanks for the work on this it has provided a great alternative for me and others. -Coffdog
Hello, 1. When patches or new versions come out will an email be sent to those who have purchased the program stating such and what has been changed? No we will not send out a email, all releases ar e anounced trough our site, on that same site you can find the changelog with the fixed and new features per version. (just like we did on RemoteSelector.com) 2. Is it possible to list on the website what bugs currently exist? No, but that is a time issue. 3. Is it possible to list on the website what bugs/enhancements are due in the next release or patch? Enhancements are listed on the website but we do not give out a roadmap because some features might take more time then expected. Thanks for the work on this it has provided a great alternative for me and others. Thank you for using our software, we really apriciate every form of support we get for our product. Rene
I would like to purchase this product, but for 2 days now the site has been down with "Unfortunately due to technical problems the payment system is out of order. Sorry for the inconvenience." Any idea when it may be fixed??
