can't rip "WHIRLPOOL". it's an old b&w flick but on dvd. dvdfab had problems w/it. couldn't finish reading it. also shrink couldn't back it up. same problem. saud fixvts error. what's the procedure for this? do i have to use fixvts? if so can i back it up w/fixvts and fix it as well? i never used fixvts. don't know too much about compressed zipped folders either. followed the link to fixvts from the guide by alkoholic. took me to a compressed zipped folder. how should i open this and install it?

both programs have there own burning engine so you will not need nero

WHIRLPOOL is a 2005 release so the copy protection shouldn't be a problem so its either a bad/scratched/dirty DVD get anther copy and you should be fine

thnx zo. anydvd took care of it. great proggie. it wasn't a read error. dvdfab's path player came up w/the send to info box concerning cryptic software.

does anydvd require autoplay? i noticed it came back after i installed anydvd. i had disabled it using alkohol's guide.

that being said, let me excuse myself for not reading up on the forum rules. any infractions were unintentional due to the over enthusiastic rush i get from this whole genre of ripping, burning...etc.

hi guys just came from dvdfab's website. it shows a download of 4.0.0.8 beta. is this an update or upgrade to dvdfab hd? also i tried looking up beta in glossary here and only got betamax. they're not the same are they? i've searched the forums and didn't see any mention about an update or upgrade to dvdfab hd, so i decided to post this ?.

any input always appreciated as always.

Most betas are very good too, no need to shy away from them...if there are bugs they are usually promptly fixed.

..plus Beta (and Alpha, Release Candidate etc versions) are where final versions of software come from, software doesn't just get to 'final' all on it's own :)

Hi, has anyone tried using DVDFab HD to rip a DVD9 to hard drive, then use DVD Descriptor to split it into two disc? I am trying to copy full disc into two single layer without compression.
    Thanks!

fellas, thnx for the replies on beta and dvdfab hd. i'm going to download

it asaic. it's paying off to search the forums first as suggested in

the rules. makes one take more initiative and yes it does help you guys

out by not having to answer the same threads over again. it's great to learn the different proggies and what each can do so you could use them to their fullest capacity.

lot of ground to cover, so i'm going to heed to the suggestion given me and take it easy.
