It's always good to hear a success story.

treyking, I would leave it at 4.2 or 4.3 as you do not want to burn to the edge anyway. I always set mine at 4280 in other apps and since RB always seems to come in between these two, it's perfect. :>)

What I'm wondering is how vurbal knew treyking's problem was a poor CCE install? A "pink mess" sounds more like bad files or an AviSynth problem...with emphasis on the later.

Experience coupled with an educated guess?

Well, this is the first time I can recall a bad CCE install being the culprit. And ... just about every strange color pattern ends up being something to do with AviSynth. Maybe vurbal will share his secret insight? :)

Vurbal's guess is like all of our guesses, a little science along with a lot of shots into the dark.:) LOL

...and the experience of having been there. That goes a long way. Fortunately, the only problems I've had with CCE was the initial #0003/#0004 errors. With Remake Pro, I had an initial problem getting the "export" to play because I kept messing up First Play with my editing attempts. After I figured that out, it has been pretty smooth.

BTW, this thread has a certain nostalgia attached to it. You started it for the likes of me...as I was just getting interested in improving the quality of my encodes. When I look back and count the days, I realize I've learned a lot in a short amount of time.

I seem to remember seeing a report of a similar problem happening and the AVS files played fine. I didn't remember for sure if I'd seen a solution, but I though somebody had gotten it working after reinstalling CCE. That's really the secret to my success. If I read something I'll most likely remember it later. If I read it 2 or 3 times (like I have most of the digital video related articles, posts, and guides I've found interesting) it's almost a sure bet I'll remember it.

The downside to this particular talent is that I get bored and have to learn something new constantly. A couple of months after I got my DVD burner I had my computer replaced (by my homeowner's insurance) with a much better one that had a capture card. For about the next 5 months I let my DVD collection accumulate without backups because I was learning how to make miniDVDs from my TV captures. I also spent a couple of weeks learning how to make Ambisonic audio miniDVDs from normal audio CDs. The good side of all this is that when I got back to my DVDs I found out I had learned a lot of what I needed to know to use CCE for backing up my DVDs. My only regret is that I there isn't time to learn everything ;)

The abridged version still to come.

    Classic Vurbal!

Although perhaps a couple of paragraphs short, and no references to any members of the canine family. Seems we're all pressed for time.

Thanks for sharing your secret. 'Just read something a couple or three times, and it becomes a plug-in to your [bold]VRK[/bold](vast range of knowledge). :)

I share your dilemma about not having enough time to learn everything. There's a lot more I'd like to learn yet, like in the DV area. I think that is coming soon...if I can just tear myself away from watching all these cool backups.

Hey guys I was just taking a look through this forum to see if Remake was worth buying because it doesnt let u export so u cant see the finished product but after reading page after page after praise on it im pretty sure its what im looking for and im gunna pick it up 2day probably, if i have any problems i know where im coming for some tech support thats for sure. I am actually posting this to say that you guys are some of the best peeps ive seen in any forums you help everyone and even when that Tony guy continued to be disrespectful you helped him until he crossed the line and then took out the trash like any of us would have. Just wanted to say i really respect what you guys are doing, dont no if it means n e thing to you but figured id tell you.

Xb0xNewb ... welcome to AD. Thank you for the recognition. Remake is a great program, and if you want to do some real serious editing, Pro is also great.

As you might have noticed, many of us use Remake with Rebuilder-CCE. Once the warnings and trailers are removed, the DVD files are usually a respectable size, and after running them through RB-CCE, the output is indestiquishable from the original.

Sup doc i have been messing around trying to use DVD shrink compressing them but sometimes i notice it makes certain parts choppy on some movies so what i was planning on doing was using shrink to extract the movie by itself and if it requires shrinking do what it needs then go into remake and make the special features disk just hiding the movie and its buttons the only thing i was wondering is when i look at the movie clips in remake they look blocky and some of them have lines does it remain that way when you export it to DVD or does it retain its original quality from the rip.
