I have used DVDx copy to make copies of over 100 movies with no problem--The copies seem to work in most DVD players, however in the last 2 months I loaned some copies to people that were not able to play them--the DVD copies I made would not work in their players--in both instances, the players were Sony manufactured high quality DVD players--However, these same disks worked fine in both of my players (Daewoo and Coby)--both are inexpensive brands--Is there a way to know if these copies will work in any particular types of DVD players--I have been told that some of the new high quality players wont play burned copies--is this true?

You must know that there are DVD-R and DVD+R, which are you using?

It's Sony that arrived with the DVD+R, before there were -R only. Some DVD Players might be able to read a DVD-R and some others could read DVD+R. Though, a lot of DVD players now are able to read both.

High quality might just read more formats i would say. Like DVD+R/-R DVD+RW/-RW MP3 and etc

When you go to rent a video, it will work in any DVD players because original DVDs aren't written the same way as burned DVD. So original films works anywhere but not the burned DVDs.

My DVD players a Sony and it reads DVD-R only, that's why i am using DVD-R only.

You should try buying only one DVD+R, burn a movie on it and give it to your friends.

Thanks Phys--I am burning only DVD+R and DVD+RW--I am sure this is the only type I can burn--I have an HP430--I just asked my neighbor to try one and he said--Wont work in mine cause it is old--and wont even play the cd's I have of pictures--But, he tried my DVD's and was surprised they worked--He came right back over and said--they work fine--So--I guess it just depends on the player--seems like the new Hi-quality players wont play them--I have purchased 3 new DVD players (they had them on sale for 24.99)which are Coby and they play the burned disks fine-just wish I could find a list of the players that the copies WILL play on--Thanks again Phys
