I've done a couple of AVIs to DVDr using TMPGEnc Xpress 3.0 (I have the AC3 plug in too) and they have turned out pretty good. I was wondering if I'm using all the best parameters to get the very best results. Here is the "typical" AVI in my library:

    700MG size
movie is usually 1:15 long (give or take 10 mins)
encoded in Divx or xvid (probably divx 5.0)

    512x382 resolution
    around 140kbps data rate
    29 frame rate (some 25s)

Audio is MP3 Mpeg layer 1
    128kps

    so far I've choosen:

    one divx per DVDr
    720x480 (NTSC)
    Mpeg layer 1 for audio
    VBR 2-pass
and everything else set to default.
Typical average video bit rate: 6400 kbits/sec

Is this the best settings in TMPG Xpress3.0 for quality? For best quality one DVI to a DVDr or can I do two? Should I be using AC3?

    TIA
