does it have overclocking features? i dont really need overclocking features but if it does, they may come in handy in the future...
I would never bother trying to overclock on a cheap motherboard if I'm honest, they just aren't made for it. Neither would I recommend overclocking a P4 Prescott really, they get very hot. If you want to dabble with overclocking, you'll want a proper board like a GA-P35-DS3L and a decent CPU cooler.
The performance benefits of overclocking a P4 using cheap equipment are almost non-existant, they get so hot, you really do need to get an additional cooler. A cheap Gigabyte mobo like the one I posted will probably manage, but you won't see a big performance boost.
i will probably make another C2D machine with an ASUS Striker(extremely satisfied my my current C2D and striker and they are probably the best motherboard/cpu combo i have ever had) as my secondary machine, but for now, i guess i will live with the crappy ECS mobo. i do think i fixed the problem tho because after upping the cpu voltage to 1.4, the stability issues are less common. i am gonna try upping it to 1.45 and see where that takes me, maybe the issues will be gone...
A CPU shouldn't require that much voltage, the only reason uppig the voltage has helped is that the regulators on yourm board aren't working properly, and are providing less than they say they are. Raising the selected voltage will bring the actual voltage delivered to the CPU back up to the correct level.
so i guess theremust be a vdroop i shall look more into this and figure out how much vdroop there really is
