for our own "fair use," i've been trying to rip an EMI CD from France belonging to my girlfriend. it won't play on the PC: it has their nasty little copy protection scheme. if we can find the receipt, we're returning it. in the meantime, after some initial frustration, i have had some success by using microsoft's Tweak UI under WinXP to disable autoplay on the drive in question. after that, CDex was able to rip the tracks-- with multiple errors, but none I could really hear. fair use, you greedy bastards!

Use EAC's burst mode feature in a standard drive. If that fails then put it in a dvd drive and try ripping it normally or use burst mode again.
