from what i've seen here, the general consensus is that whatever Eminem puts out does not always sound awesome. arg, rap. someone needs to sit you down and play a little Nirvana. and i'm not "hating." i simply feel that rap is one genre of music that in which the talent to performer (not even a musician/singer) ratio is extremely low.
ROFLMAO! O.K., so I am a bit older than those of you who like this stuff, but to say that you gotta learn what real music is, almost made me piss my pants, laughing. It sure the hell isn't rap.
I couldn't agree more, Grandpa!! How 'bout we force this kid to listen to stuff like Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Rush, oh man I could go on and on...but it sure wouldn't be eminem!
yeah rap blows the big one its like less than 5% of the record sales and all the kids think that rap is the only music out there, its crap .Try some REAL bands kids Led Zeppelin...Black Sabbath...Deep Purple...UFO...Savatage...Hawkwind ...Eloy...Legs Diamond...Cream...Dream Theater...King Crimson...Widespread Panic...Joe Bonamassa...Goverment Mule...Tool...Grand Funk Railroad just to name a few
I like rap too, but if you want to talk about real music, Led Zeppelin is the best. I think I got 13 of their CDs. Pink Floyd is great too, I got pretty much all their stuff too. I've been on a Pantera kick lately, they are the gods of metal. Metallica's great too. Like I said, I like rap but it's nowhere near my favorite music. It gets stale too quickly. Besides how long can you listen to a genre of music when 90% of it's all the same. This coming from a guy who dumped $4000 into a car stereo and now listens to nothing but rock mostly and people look at me like I'm nuts.
yeah, but I really started getting into them from the Meddle album and afterwards. I believe Meddle was 1971. I believe they were in their prime in the 70's. Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and Animals are definitely among their best.
iam with you totally :Animals,Meddle,Wish You Were Here and then Dark Side Of The Moon (in order)are my fav. wasnt really A WAll fan even though its a good album it just wasnt one of my favs. as far as the newer Floyd goes Divison Bell is a great album. There back together with Roger Waters for like 8 shows .WOW wish i could see them again, such great shows they put on . seen them about 3 times
I like a bit of Floyd & Zep. My brother was more into Rush & Black Sabbath. I have an eclectic taste in music. I love classical, but not all classical. Opera is good, the first scene of La Traviata blows me away. Chorus of the Hebrew slaves ALWAYS makes the hair on the back of my head stand up! For my money, Andrea Bocelli has THE perfect voice. But I also like ABBA (Eagle is prob my fave!), Simon & Garfunkel (The Boxer, ahhhh!). I like a lot of contemporary music, Trance is cool, crank it up! @ Shadyrule, your comments just show how immature you are. I suggest that you get your mother to give you a slap the next time she wipes your a**e! The older & wiser you get, the more accepting & less dogmatic & zealous you will become. If you want I can explain what those really big words mean. Are we sitting comfortably, I shall begin....... Pulsar
PS, @ varcel, I suggest that you too grow up. A comment like that WILL start a flame war. A war that you would never win. Your inflexible & immature attitude is why the world is full of hatred & lack of respect. I guess we are going to get an awful lot of toddlers with a peurile thread like this. Coochy, coochy, coochy. That was for all the children who are past their bedtime! Pulsar
HAHAHA Nice one Pulsar! I wasn't gonna say anything cuz people like that just want to get into a flame war and we'd just be giving him what he wants. BTW, Varcel, Pink Floyd is not one person, it's 4 people.
WAY TO GO Pulsar couldnt said it better myself ,theses kids probably never heard a Pink Floyd song or couldn't name ANY band member from Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. They havent a clue about REAL music and won't understand what the hell were talking about for probably ANOTHER 20 years LOL. just remember this you rap fans Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath have influenced 1000s of bands the last 20 to 30 years and eminem will be a pimple on your ass in 5 years that NOONE will remember. and his influence on music will be ZERO.
Division bell was the 1st Floyd I bought. Some really nice tracks on that album! The music I listen to usually reflects the mood I am in. I like Alizee, a very attractive young French lady. She sings in French, but once you get the hang of it, it's nice. I like "chilly out" music. Das Glockenspeil is one of my faves. Just 'cos I'm nearly 40 doesn't mean I like ALL old stuff. Eminem did some REASONABLE early stuff, but now he has lost the plot. His lyrics are, at least, questionable. Especially as we live in a world where kids get away with murder because a records lyrics, or game told them to. What the hell happened to personal responsibilty? I guess it is because we live in a crazed, blame anyone except me, world! Don't you just hate music/game/car zealots? Pulsar The musical "Hair" caused ructions in the seventies, due to its' explicit lyrics. Mild by todays standards though.
Jimmy Page was on Radio1 in the UK with a couple of extremely funny DJs, called Mark & Lard. They took the mickey, in a nice way. He loved it & couldn't stop laughing! That guy is a hero, & they took the mick. He is a star in my eyes, just for that interview! Pulsar
Why is everyone hating on Rap music. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but don't slate the genre just because of Eminem. He isn't the only rapper out there. I think people should think about what they say before they post. I think Rap has done exceedingly well since it began in the early 70's. Don't forget Rock has been around alot longer and will obviousley have more artists. For all the people who like rock I ask if you have ever listened to Run DMC. They are a legendary rock/rap group. My favourite song has to be Rock Box. I also like Walk This Way ft. Aerosmith Please do more research on it before you post. Not all songs are about drugs, money, women, bling and cars. Some rappers rap about different stuff.
everyone's "hating" on rap because some moron came in, proclaiming how great it was and how we should all love it. threads like this are becoming commonplace and it's rather annoying.
I think it was the original post that probably got people riled up: That's a pretty ignorant statement right there if you ask me.
PS@pulsar and squigie, Ladies I was refering to eminem, dont get all heated, I'm pretty sure you both of you look good in pink
