    thanks for the response...here is the deal..I got shrink open right now...i go to my g drive click on my dvd work file...but the file inside it isn't being reconized by shrink...and the file is in the folder....just doubled check that too..opened it and played it...and befor you ask ...i took it out of my player files just to make sure that it wasnt showing up because the player was accessing the file..
    anyway ...here is what i am working with....this is a down loaded file...and plays...sound track plays in english...just that i don't want to look at chineese writing with the movie...either on my pc or the back up...i have burned it once thinking that maybe on the stand alone i could use the menue and not have the writing ..but the stand alone plays the closed captions no matter where i set it... my big question right now ...is why isn't shrink reconizeing this file inside of my DVD work file on my G drive....

    yea i got nero 6 ultra ....and waiting for the down loadable 7...hadnt really used recode ....most of what i have DL ..i have been able to burn with vision express...its that i deceided its time i learn more about poping unwanted files out of the finished movie...so you say that recode 2 will let me pull out the chineese writing (closed captions) guess i better take a closer look at recode ....but still my mind has to know why the file isn't being reconized in my work folder by shrink....if nothing else for future...and yes befor you ask i do have a downloadable serial for the new 7...legal...was pissed that they didn't release it on the 26th like they were supose to....now they are saying on the 2nd...or that was what they were saying yesterday...but today may be diff..sure hope they don't postpone release anymore....

    if you notice i caught it too...as i am sure you read my post..whats funny is the file will play and also nero express 2 has burned it to disk once already....might as well be a coaster because of the chineese writing glareing you in the face...other than that the file burned great....good pic whole 9 yards....somebody else noticed the divx driver...but already reinstalled the codec and ...not sure...as i mentioned device manager says it working prop...gues i just need to wait a couple more days till the nero 7 down load is released ..then uninstall run there clean tool....then clean reg...and install nero 7 then see huh...but i am baffled as to why i cant get shrink to reconize the file in my work folder so i can strip out the closed captioning....would you believe this is my first attempt at something like this too..i have ripped one with decryptor and used nero express to burn...other than that just dl and burn..been haveing good luck...till i decieded to try and learn...hehehe....well maybe somebody can help me figure this out and send me in right direction...would be nice to get this file stripped of the captioning ...then get my new nero 7 in to burn it with....thanks for the help...maybe somebody will read this and send mein right direction....

    @hopper393,

    Your file is already an AVI file so you will not be able to successfully remove your Chiniese subtitles. They are now imbedded into your video file.

    Were these ariginal DVD's at first? If so you need to remove the subtitles in Shrink before you convert the file to DivX or what ever format of video you are converting to. If thay are downloaded files then I am sorry to say you are probably stuck with those subtitles. Let me know what you have to begin with and I may be able to help you out ;-)

    okay thats making sense now...except maybe is that why shrink wont reconize the file in my work folder too.....the file is a down load..off lime...avi compressed to divix just like you seen above...all i did was watch and do a quick burn,,,,so guess you realize that i picked a wild file to start cutting ..on to learn with huh....some of us ole long haired tramps just got no luck huh..
    thanks for the help and advice....can you make head or tails out of that gspot (the last one where the files are missing) is that going to give me any prob...?? also if you notice just a couple lines above isnt that the same as the one missing....??? and would you have an idea why my dicx driver might not be showing there...and my device manager says its installed and working.....
    thanks again....as i said this was my first trail at chopping one apart..except i did rip fire down below and use recode on it and had not one problem.....thanks again everybody.......

    Those files probably wont pose anyproblems for you at all.

    As far as the Shrink thing you are exactly right Shrink needs the .VOB, .BUP, and .IFO files to be able to pull up your DVD and those are specific to DVD compliant files. Shrink wont pick up AVI files.

    Cheers

    As I stated before there isn't anything to get rid of them. Now if there at the bottom of the screen and you could do with losing the bottom of your screen there are all sorts of proggys out there that will let you crop the video (cutting the bottom part of the screen off). But you would probably end up losing some parts of the movie that way. If thats what you want to do though I would give FlaskMpeg a go.. ;-)
