i've got a 500 gig Western digital HD. when i boot up it gives me a Error auto-sensing message. i tried all different variations of jumper and ide primary and secondary set up. when i put it on master primary 0 i dont get the "Error auto-sensing" but it simply dosn't see the hard drive. i have a dell dimension 4500. is there someway to force read my HD. i've tried WD software already and it can't detect my drive.

take the jumper off & see what happens. also try cable select if that don't work tho it should.
