I'm using MacTheRipper, DVD2oneX, and Toast following the same steps as mentioned at the beginning of this 'DVD ripping with Mac' and am getting this error message:

    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = Illegal Request
    Sense Code = 0x30, 0x05
CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM - INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT

Any clue what this means and what changes I need to make to get rid of this error?

It means you are using the wrong type of discs - what type of dvd discs are you using to burn to? Whatever it is, your burner doesn't like them ! hence the medium error!

I think Im using basic TDK DVDr's (4.7GB). I can burn on the same burner using the disc utility program but would much rather use toast if possible to save time and possibly enhance picture quality. Are there cheap DVDr's that you know of that may work better with Toast?

cheap media is not worth it. its not up to toast as to what media the dvd burner itself likes.. try some verbatims, sony, or even maxell..

    dont buy cheap media.

Like I said, the burner itself doesnt mind the DVDr's Im using now when I use different software (Disk Utility). Toast just seems to mind. I think I might be burning with the wrong settings. Any suggestions?

ok.. no need to get pissy.

that's why i brought up that cheap media doesnt work. you asked for cheap media.

yes, Video_TS. The thing that I just dont understand is if cheap media doesnt work, why does it work using different software on the same hardware.
