Copy protection is simple enough. Looks like Shrink ran into something it couldn't rip. Shrink was last updated July 04. Second error may stem from the first. If not, I've seen the same error when someone didn't reboot following a usb drive connection or when some source was removed while a program was trying to read.

Since Shrink hasn't been updated to handle the newer encryption systems, it's a good idea to rip newer movies with DVD Decrypter http://www.dvddecrypter.com or run the background decryption tool AnyDVD http://www.slysoft.com . AnyDVD has a 3 week trial to try it out and Decrypter is free. I leave AnyDVD running in the background and rip with Decrypter. Just using AnyDVD alone could solve your problem.
[bold]Run DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in the background and then let us know if you're still having any problems.[/bold]

I know it's just a 3 week trial. I pointed that out. So that gives you 3 weeks to find out if the problem is due to the obsolete ripper in the Shrink software. Shrink was last updated in July of 2004. So without repeating myself a lot more, I'd suggest trying the trial. Did you use Decryter to rip the files previously or were you just using it as a burner?

We had different error mesage now it says:
dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
    failed to read file "E:\"
the volume for the file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.

see if that helps u any, we've also downloaded anydvd.
    thanks

I'm wondering what you're doing. With the file ripped with Decrypter in file mode, you should have a Video_TS folder. What is drive "E:\"? Where did you save the ripped file? Normally the program saves the ripped files on C:\ unless the user selects another drive.

When you open Shrink, you select "Open Files" and browse to the folder with the video_ts folder you ripped and Shrink starts with the initial analysis. Here is the quick guide for that if you didn't look at it before. Same site as had the decrypter guide. Note this guide starts with "Open Disk" instead of "Open Files". http://www.dvdshrink.info/fulldisk_basic.php Since you ripped to the hard Drive you will open with "Open Files". Follow the guide and see if that helps. You may want to look at some of the other guides at DVDShrink.info to get a better idea of some of Shrink's other capabilities. A comprehensive guide for DVD Shrink can be found at http://www.doom9.org .
