Hi guys. I have a problem with my laptop. When I try to boot it up it wont load windows. all i can really do is enter Bios and use that.

What i have tried doing is formatting the Hard Drive but this also comes up with a problem.

When I try to format I use the Full NTFS Format not a Quick Format.

I then get either of 2 problems.

    A) It just shuts down the Laptop before formatting or
    B) It formats the drive then says that it cant install windows because there is something wrong with the drive like an error or something

Ive also noticed that the Hard Drive makes a loud scratching noise when its busy. Dont know if this is normal but its my first laptop.

Is there any way I can fix this problem using any particular scripts in Bios or anything else or is it time for a new Hard Drive?

Thanks for your time guys and hopefully we can get this sorted

It sounds like your drive went south. Time for a new one, unfortunately.

yes it can! your hard drive had aa bearing go in the spindle that is why you here the noise. you can pick up a nice size 7200 rpm drive for under $100. if you have the documention for the laptop check how big of a drive it can handle. More than likely you can go 120gb with no problems but those drives will cost you more than a bill!
