I recently purchased a Lite-On SHW-1635S, it came bundled with Nero OEM Suite. I am using Nero Vision Express 3. I am using Verbatim 4.7GB 16x Certified DVD-Rs, I also tried Sony DVD+R 8x. I tried to burn as low as I could. I started with .mkv or .ogm, I converted some to .avi, but I don't think it is compatible. I might have done it wrong. I tried burning it to DVD, but whenever it finishes, and I try to play on a DVD player, or my computer, It is always either dark screened, or it is full of different colored boxes, and it repeats itself. I have read many different posts here, but I am only confused now. I don't having any money to spend so I'm looking for freeware. Thanks for any help.

Ok, I tried again after following all the steps... first problem... when I try to install the firmware I get this message, "Unable to Flash Firmware" I went ahead and burned the disk anyway, after I am done burning, and I went to play it with Nero's own player. I get this message, "Sorry, the folder you selected does not contain a valid DVD-VIDEO, VCD, or SVCD structure." I don't know what to do. Thanks for any help you can provide
Also, another problem that I am having is that I can never burn slower than 6x. Know how to resolve this?
A lot have problems with that, that are in the that log have been taken care of. So I am just having other issues. If I have anymore trouble, I will post in new thread. I just have to get the firmware thing squared away.
