    Hi everyone,
Just purchased a New EX 1000 SL, connected it to tv and downloaded a number of channels, however those seemed to be scrambled. I was told to update the software and having searched and read a number of these threads decided to connect via Cables and USB straight into computer.I can request the download but continue to se the message "Waiting for your receiver", have purchased all new cables and retryed the above, i am now thinking that the box must be faulty.Any other things you think i should try?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What operating system are you running and have you put the driver on your PC for the USB adapter, have you configured your ports in device manager if yes what is the USB adapter port number set to.

Should work if your settings are as you say, turn the box off at the mains, press start on the firmware loader wait a few seconds then turn the box back.

I would say it's down to the USB adapter or your Ports/Coms configured incorrectly.

Can you get to another PC that has a 9 pin serial socket at the back so you don't need to use the USB adapter?

Have now tryed that, showing in the box is,
    Firmware download - version 2.00
waiting for the response of your receiver
If it make a difference the desk-top is using windows 2000.

Is that via the Null modem cable only? are you sure you have a RS232 Null modem cable OR just the RS232 serial cable as they look the same.

    Windows 2000 should be fine.

In Device manager what number is the serial port listed under, you need to assign it to between 1-4, try changing it 1 then try the download again if it doesn't work try com 2 and keep trying on each one up to com 4.

Edit: just to add make sure your box is on standby.

hi, i'm just wondering if a solution was ever found for this problem. exactly the same thing is happening to me, when i try to download the firmware it just says "waiting for response from receiver" and it will not load up.
i'm using the same box, ex 1000 sl, with a usb atapter for the null modem cable and i'm working with xp on my laptop.
it seems to be a common problem and i've found a lot of threads with people having the same problem but i can't seem to get it working, i've tried everything that i've seen people suggest i was just hoping that somebody out there has found a way to get it working.
    thanks in advance
