    Hi, newbie requires help!!!!

Just bought box at w/end, had it flashed, hooked it up and scanned, got all channels listed but could only watch a few as said scrambled.
Got it hooked up to p.c via null modem as told by a guide on this site to try to download but just comes up "waiting for the response of your receiver"
I'm not very good at tech stuff so any ideas would be much appreciated

    Cheers, Aza

waiting for the response of your receiver" Indicates that your null cable is not communicating with you computer.
Check to see if your cable is connected securely.

I read the guide on that link and followed it, but when I try to download instead of looking like the picture at point 4 where it says "version 2.10 detected" my screen says "com3". when you click start it says "the receiver has not been detected". Have checked the cable, removed and re attatched it but no joy

Are you 100% sure its a null modem cable? there are cables that look the same.
Does the cable go directly into your pc/laptop or int a usb join first? it in a usb join then have you installed the software? otherwise it wont work, null modem cables are not plug and play

Deffo a null modem cable, bought it today as i read the guide last night and checked the back of my pc to make sure I had the right connector on it. It's a staight plug in from pc to back of box - no usb involved. Like I said i'm not very good with tech stuff

Think you may be right. it shows com3 then when you click the start button it says the receiver was not detected if you want to download firmware in boot mode click ok button below and hit ac power on your receiver then asks you for the com port setting. not sure what to try next though, thanks for trying anyway.

    Try the following
    1. Go to the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "My Computer"

    Hope this helps.
    3. Select "Properties"
    4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
    5. Click on "Device Manager"
    6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
    7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your null cableis connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
    8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
    9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

Hi, managed to sort it out finaly. Think it was down to my pc not seeing com3 when the box was plugged into it. Took it to a mates pc and did exactly the same as on my own and the firmware downloaded straight away!!!! Came home and scanned and now all is tickety boo! Many thanks to all who tried to help.
