Eurovox flashing step by step.

Hi to all, this is a great forum and I can see you've all put a lot of time and effort in to make it work - so thanks for that. If there's anyone able to advise on my scenario then it might just prevent me from jumping under a train anytime now. At best I fear I'll be firing this box into the nearest skip (and probably along with it's seller). I'll explain...

Bought a genuine, new Eurovox EX1000SL off ebay, but been pi$$in about past 2 days trying to set it up. Here’s the story..

1. Flashed latest firmware (1.0 ST4 Aug 21 2008) but found I was unable to access the ‘secret menu’ (1968 to set emulation and check/change keys), nevertheless tried a ‘Power Scan’ also tried a ‘Deep scan’ which just picked up around 20x TP’s. This produced around 90 channels in total but apart from around 10 crappy free channels the rest were unwatchable as only reported about 6-8% quality.

2. Tried using all three symbol rates in turn (6875, 6887, 6952) but found only 6952 picked up TP’s hence I’ve stuck with that for all subsequent attempts. Interesting noticed if you choose to reset to factory default then 6887 isn’t shown as an option. Also noticed that I had most channels labelled as ‘scrambled’ even though some of these included ones that worked fine!!

3. Have since reflashed trying ALL the older firmware levels (for this box) and with all these I could access the 1968 menu option and confirm correct keys. Just to prove this I reflashed again with latest version and confirmed no 1968 menu possible.

4. So..in summary I can’t get into 1968 menu unless using older firmware and regardless of which type of firmware or delete settings or factory reset or any type of update you care to name I’ve tried the bl00dy lot and am just about sick of it!!!!!!

5. Transponder-wise I’m in Solihull just south of Birmingham and am now Virging on an old Telepest line. I read somewhere TP’s range from 274 to 427 but I’ve had them in the range of 131 up to 739 (unless I’m misunderstanding this..don’t think so though?)

6. Obviously I’ve searched all the forums I can find but not come across anything able to fix my situation ;O( Help..Help…Help…Help or shall I just throw the towel in and admit defeat?

Thats not the latest firmware try either of the two in eamos library under my pic (24/02/09)also there should be no need for anyone to access the secret menu,because unlike starview you should not have to turn the emu on.

i tried that and had no joy at all,couldn't access anything to do with emulation,just 4 different language settings.
can't understand it at all,the thing that's killing me is that i had most of the channels in in the 1st place and now practically nothing..

 

could anyone do us a quick favour just upload a cdf for the sl 1000 cos my mate never gave me the remote for his box so when he does eventually get here i can be one step ahead... thanks

 

Thanks Karljd but as I say I've tried them ALL, got mixed up with what comes after what as I've reflashed and banged my head against wall so many times yesterday and today! It's the 24/02/09 nosort one that wouldnt let me do 1968. Can see what you mean about not having to turn emu on but without the access I wouldn't be able to change keys in future if/when necessary?..anyway thats not whats bugging me I've just put 24/02/09 fw on (yet again) scanned and got 82 channels, for example 11 of those are Sky-xyz but 7 of the 11 are breaking up (all 611KHZ). Wanted this mainly for the kids but another 13 of the channels are smut! (wouldn't moan about the smut if I could access the bl00dy stuff!!!).

Have searched for complete channel list so I can at least try and do a couple manually but only list I can find on here is specifically for Dublin (I'm Solihull/Birmingham (symbolrate 6952).

Sorry if I'm taking this thread off at a tangent BTW, I thought as it related to flashing/scanning it might be appropriate? or should I have opened up a new thread? Apologies in advance if any inconvenience caused ;O)

 

can anybody answer this question please, does the eurovox max v have a physical reason for no n2 fix or is it purely a financial decision by eurovox to try force people to update?

The eurovox max V 2008 black is dead in the water in eire?
Does this work in the UK?
anyone have nay luck selling them to the UK?
What is the best box to go for now?(N*L M*DS)

Bad about eurovox not supporting their boxes like some others!
Got 2 years out of it though!

 

i have the ex 5000 up and running now,tried again to do that emu thing and managed to switch it on this time.all channels coming up now except a couple of adult channels,that was probably because i did the scan this afternoon before those channels came on air.not bothered about them anyway.

also on the ex1000 did you have the cable in tight on the box & computer that could be a reason why receiver was not detected

 

i know how to add another freq so i'll give that a go.
i'll give the ex 1000 another go and see how it goes.

Are you scanning from the direct feed ie no splitters?as regards changing the keys,just press the menu then the yellow button,key in your provider id then your keys save and exit.
