Have an EX1000SL, does it matter if you turn it off after you have flashed it and before you scan it? My computer is in a different room to the tv so I have to flash the box, then unplug it and take it to the tv and plug it in again to do the factory reset and the scan. I only ask because I get the freeview channels and everything else is a "channel scrambled". Have I missed anything out?

once its flashed with the right firmware and you didnt turn the box off too soon then no it wont matter, switch it off again for a minute and switch it back on to sly sports for it to search for the channels.DONT change the channel as its working or itll start the search all over again

do a restart with the cable plugged out, install the drivers, then plug it back in, hopefully you'll get it working then.
i gotta go but good luck you might still have to play with com ports when its installed but that should be whats needed, think hiteck is still around (with a sore head)if you still have trouble :)

OK, turned it off for a minute, turned it back on and put it on sky sports one, it's been there for about 15 minutes, still says scrambled channel, or does it take longer?

Big thanks HiTeck for putting this together. I have never done anything like this before an it was straight forward following your guide. An thanks again to SG8 for pointing me in the right direction.

Press menu then ok on lanuage settings, type 1968 then the hidden menu will show, where it says emulation make sure its set to enable.

Edit: where did you download the firmware from?

Did you change the device manager settings (com/ports) settings to com 3,

where its listed at com 1 right click select properties, select port settings, then advance, where the com1 pull down box is press the arrow and select com 3 then ok. then give it a try.
