Yep, some you win some you lose, just check (step by step to rule out any mistakes- then see end result!!!) out this thread and see the messing moh had, in the Adaptor alone, just one of those unfortunate gremlins at work I suppose, he will get it in the end. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/728581
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post Please help newbie well almost, I have a Max V and updated firmware 2 weeks ago working great, I purchased 3 EX5000 box's yesterday for the family (xmas presents) Followed firmware download, all appeared successful, followed channel load as discribed, factory reset ect, but I don't get power scan , only shows fast scan (red Button) changed symbol rate to 6.887 (Glasgow)all chanells found. I ran through 20+ channels and checked fav's all loaded.I than done the same for the other 2 box's every thing looked ok. I then connected the first box back up and no channels found??? scanned again, found all channels again. Tried second box same problem, channels lost, it appears when I disconnect from mains I lose all channels. Have I done something wrong as I do not get the power scan (yellow button option). Is there a waiting time to store channels?? Thanks in advance Koolkutz
Help Please: Vir*in channels today are suddenly showing very low signal strength on Freq 317 and 323 (these show Virgin 1, +1, etc): I did a channel update but that didn't work. All other frequencies are fine: have Vir*in moved the channels on 317 & 323 to a new Transponder? Do I need to do a complete scan again, or has anyone found what frequency have these channels? I would appreciate if someone could reply with the new frequency as it will save me doing a rescan. I'm ex Telew*st, in Twickenham area. Thanks
If you are having problems with just those channels, then do a Manual scan on the frequency that they are broadcast, that will sort it.
Just try this okay. whilst on affected channel press the INFO button twice and note the frequency and then Menu and across to Installation, choose User Installation OK and enter pin 0000, now highlight that frequency with the up down arrow keys, when highlighted Press OK and a tick will appear in the lefthand side in CHAN NUM, now press BLUE button to scan on that frequency, and just wait, the screen will go blank for a minute or so and then when it returns on screen the channels found will drop in. Then exit out when it has finished and check the channels Okay
Yeh, have done all that: the problem is that the SIGNAL STRENGTH on 323, 117 is RED, down to 8%, so not picking up the channel on manual scan; My other, original VM box shows the "Virgin 1" channel, so I'm wondering if VM have changed the Frequency/Transponder on which they are now transmitting some of the channels which were on 117/323, and have reduced the signal on 117/323. All other channels are fine, with signal strengths 82-83%, it's only 117/323 which have gone down.
No they haven't changed anything - i have checked it out here and they are all fine, what is your box.
Eurovox EV5000 PVR; I've just checked my original VM Pace box (which was showing Virgin 1 when the Ev wasn't), and now the Pace is also saying that Virgin 1 is unavailable at present, so I suspect there must be a signal problem from VM; Perhaps their original Pace box was able to pick up a low signal whilst the EV wasn't, and now both boxes don't pick up these particular channels!!!
It's possibly an area problem with a TP, but have you checked under nondescript TV numbered channels to make sure that you have not got them anywhere else, also in this part of the country they are both broadcast on the same frequency, V1 and V1+1.
Yeh, done all that; Anyway, will wait till tomorrow to see if VM have fixed it; Have to go now: thanks for your help Malci.
