it's not meant to find the box. The box sends no auto data for the PC to recognise. I'm pretty sure that once you are connected and run the firmware flash loader then the box will be found by the UFL and give you options to flash it.

this is a bit of a long shot but try changing the port number in device manager to port 1.

make sure usb adaptor is plugged in, go to device manager, double click ports, right click the usb converter one and select properties, click the port settings tab then advanced and com port number will be at the bottom, change it to port 1. if there is alreday somthing assigned to port 1 then change what ever it is to port 4, just remember to change it back to port 1 when you are finished. let me know if this works.

i've not read all your previous threads but i'm guessing that you've got a usb to serial converter, if so your laptop will have probably found it on com5 or 6 or even higher and i don't think that the software supports anything over com4, what you have to do is the following:
go into device manager and select portc (com & lpt),
from here select your usb port (let say it's com6), right click & select properties
from here click the port settings tab, then the advanced button
from here select the port mapping tab and map your com 6 port to com2
click ok. close everything down and try again
    hope that helps

    red box.

Also sorry. I'm having trouble answering questions over 2 threads as I am still under this ridiculous 3 minute post rule.

first box I flashed did this and I had to do a factory reset on full ( remember to use the correct symbolrate ) for it to find the channels. After that it was fine.
symbolrate and area provider information in this text file.
