You can do and its recommended if you haven't got a v box as you loose your favs, with the v box software it sorts your channels for you so you don't need to save your channels but you will have to do a power scan if you dont

Yes thats right, you can back up your channels and it asks you when your doing the flash, i didn't back up my channels but with the software for the v box it auto sorts all your channels automatically but you will have to do a power scan again, its up to you

The bigmaq way looks a hell of a lot easier and youve all been great for helping us stupids, just need to wait for the cable now and keep everything crossed.
    Well not everything lol xx
    thanks again

Hi, I've been searching the forum for a few days gathering information on how to flash my EUROVOX MAX blue box. The only question i have is regarding the NULL MODEM CABLE. Can i use the below to connect via laptop to EUROVOX.

DB9 Female DB9F 9 pin with RS232 to usb adapter.

    Any feedback is very appreciated.

    Thank you.

just want to make sure i have this right before i go looking for an adaptor.can i use the 15 pin outlet on my laptop and a converter for the rs232 9 pin cable to connect ev. to laptop or do i need , as some people have posted , a rs232 9 pin to USB converter. can 15 pin on laptop do this or it it only for a monitor.probably a silly question to some , but i might as well be looking into a bag of spanners. cheers

    I have the Eurovox 2008,
Quick question on inputting the provider codes. Everywhere i have looked it seems to give a 4 digit code ie: 5a 01
On my screen i can only put a two digit code for the provider id.

    Type: Irdeto
    Provider : 00
    Key : 00
    Key Data 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

So could you tell me what goes where? Please? Sorry for being thick

    Provider 5A 01
    00 - 54 1e ce 02 a2 58 79 86
    01 - b5 aa 58 2d 64 5e e1 05

No ypu can not use that 15 pin outlet on the laptop.

You will need both a USB To 9 pin Male serial adapter & a 9 pin Female to 9 Pin Female NULL modem cable.

Yeah thats what im doin the 1968 way. But you have to put the provider id in and all the ones listed are 4 digit and you can only input 2 digits. Hence my earlier post!!

These are the two part numbers you will need & are available from Maplin, you can look at them on their website so you know exactly what you need should you go elsewhere for them. Just remember that the cable must be a NULL Modem & not a standard RS232.

    Cable L71BT

    Adapter ZP43W
