No worries, just posted what worked for me. You definitely have NULL MODEM cable and not just RS232 cables connected?

    Hey, no problem. Much appreciated.
    I have exhausted all avenues!!!
I could have taken it to the market and they would flash it for me for £10, but F**K em, I want to be able to do it myself:)
I am quite technically minded and would like to be able to sort it myself.
    Again, appreciation for your endevours:)

OMG, now this is getting confusing, I was under the impression that an RS232 was a null modem cable!!!

Evo, can you confirm that it is definitely a NULL MODEM cable that you are using and not just a RS232 cable?

NULL MODEM cable is reverse wired, so while it looks the same it is wired differently.

I would think that this would be your problem, but I could be wrong!!

Well, to be honest, I can't. I have a null modem cable that came with my box, however, my PC doesn't have a 9pin port, so I had to buy a USB to 9pin cable (RS232) from a local supplier. I was under the impression that a null modem and RS232 were one and the same thing!!!

Sorry for any ingorance/confusion on my part...

At least you know what the problem is, find someone with a PC as old as mine (or an old laptop!) and you will be up and running in no time.

Aah, right, now thats the cable I got with my box, but as I have stated prev, my PC doesn't have a 9pin port, so I bought a USB to 9pin cable, clearly this is not a "null modem one"!!!

I thank you for your replies.
I am in work tomorrow and I know that the comps in work do have a 9 pin socket, so I will try my original cable on the PC's in work.

Thanks again for all your help, and I hope to have it resolved tomorrow. Failing that, I will be back for further advice.

You guys are invaluable. Thanks again.

    Ian...

Or buy a pci serial card to add to your pc which costs around a 10er

or a RS232 to USB db9 as described above

evo this is the item number of the cable i bought 280217968027 on e--bay, it came with good software which installed it and then when i plugged it into the usb port the laptop installed it also, i then went to device manager and selected com ports, right clicked on the device that was installed and selected properties and assigned it to com port 1 which was available and its worked great so far, i obviously still had to connect the usb converter serial cable that i bought to the dbf9 to dbf9 cable that i received with the box.

These are the cables you need to flash the your box.

If you have a computer or a laptop with a 9 pin serial com port which is male on the back all you will need is this,

Female to Female Serial Null Modem Cable which looks like this,

Make sure you do not buy a Serial RS232 9-Pin Female to Female cable. They seems to be quite a few people buying this from mapl*ns, It has to be a SERIAL NULL MODEM CABLE Like the one above!!

    [IMG]Serial RS232 9-Pin Female to Female

If you have a computer or laptop without a 9 pin serial socket you will still need the Female to Female Serial Null Modem Cable as above and this USB to Serial bi-directional DB9 Adaptor Converter to make it fit into your USB port
    [IMG]

If you have a pc and you are struggling with the usb adapter as above you could add a PCI serial card which is easily added to you PC and with this all you need is the null modem cable which gives you a direct link from your box to the pc.

    I hope this helps.

To all concerned, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mr Murdoch and Branson will not be getting any more of my cash than necessary. For, you guys do an excellent job:)

After taking advice from you knowledgeable chaps. I plugged my original null modem into my (purchased RS232 cable) then into my PC, downloaded the UFL and hey presto. (Live free football matches)

Thanks a million again, I really appreciate all your help.

    Sincere regards
