You may need a new driver for Vista. I have a Vista compatible one if you need it.

To Assign A USB Port Using Vista:

Open Device Manager by doing the following:
    a) Click on “Start” and then “Control Panel.”
    b) Switch to Classic View (if in Category View).
    c) Double click on “System.”
    d) Select the Hardware tab.
    e) Press the “Device Manager” button.

Double click on "Ports (COM & LPT)" (note that this will only show up when device is connected).
Double Click on "USB Serial Port (COMx)" (where x is the COM port currently assigned)
Click "Advanced" on the "Port Settings" tab
Change the assigned COM port, and click "OK" all the way out.

If the drivers are installed correctly you should get by doing the following.

    Procedure:

    START
    Right Click "MY COMPUTER"
    Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like “USB Serial Port COM # or "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm. Port (COM#) or “Communications Port” (COM #) )
    Choose "Properties"
    Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
    Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
Restart Windows (If necessary but normally not required)

    Sure is sc0user.

Although technically Vista does call the system "Computer" whereas XP referrs to it as "My Computer" ;-) I'm sure they will work that out though???

    START
    Right Click "COMPUTER"
    Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like “USB Serial Port COM # or "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm. Port (COM#) or “Communications Port” (COM #) )

Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2

USB 1.1 won't be a problem (Just a tad slower) all USB 2.0 Ports are backward compatible.

your provider id is 5a01 and symbol rate is 6952, as for the codes you dont need them once you have the box updated, you can also just do a factory reset and do a powerscan with symbol rate 6952

axxxo.. The telewest has two key codes... 00 and 01. I have lost the 01 section. From my experience when the code changes i get the new codes from bigmaq toolbar and it works.

Since i can not see the telewest 01 section i cannot add the new codes in. I have tried added a new line but it does not work. Please state how you do a factory reset and power scan. i cannot see that option. Maybe with a little guide can help me in the right direction.

    Many thanks for the reply.

to do a fac reset press menu config and clear data, if you deleted one of the key lines press menu language 1968 1968 and then select the space below the 00 line and press the red button to add a new line, put the provider id to 5a 01 and blue button to save and exit, you can then enter your keys manually, by the way when you create the new line it will not show up as telewest, it will be blank, you can edit this yourself. you really should update though!

I have done exactly that by entering a blank section. i can not however rename it to telewest. It so annoying. Please guide me on how to update. If you mean on the user installation and then press the red button then i have already done that and it is still not working.

    Argh! lol
