Hi all, new to the forums so be kind.

If this is in the wrong area just give me a quick slap and i promise to be good.

Thing is i was offered a Eurovox max {not sure if its blue, red or a clone} but as i lived in a non cabled area they might as well offered me a brick lol

So i passed it on to my daughter, but as the codes kept getting scrambled after about two weeks off her getting this box she soon got fed up of it.

SO, fast forward a few weeks, i have now moved house {nice cabled area lol} and the eurovox ends up with me.

Now if i plug it in, do the search etc. i just get the never ending updating codes message, so i thought that i would get the cables {null modem} and see if i could get it to work.

First problem {it will teach me to look first} nowhere to connect the cable to the back of the p.c. so i bought the connector for null modem to usb, gave that a try but just cannot get the p.c. to connect with the eurovox.

Now i read somewhere, that when i connect the eurovox to the p.c. there should be 4 little lines a bit like this _ _ _ _ {like my graphics skills, good eh} but mine does this for about 3-4 seconds and then just displays the channel number {is this normal} and when i open the firmware prog. and tell it to upload, it just sits there doing nothing {think that the p.c. and box have had some sort of arguement and refuse to speak} now i need to be pointed in the right direction as to what to do next.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Is it a specific driver that i need for usb to serial adapter? as all my usb ports are working fine if i plug anything like camera or bluetooth devices in?

just look through the link and find one for your operating system ie xp,you need drivers for the cable even if your usb ports are working ok for everything else

ok this is a common problem with the usb to serial adapter, have you followed all the advise in HiTecs thread about assigning com ports and such,i would suggest another read through it and if you still have no luck try and get a friend with a serial port on there pc to flash it for you,
