I got 2 max V2008 boxes for friends that live within a mile radius of me, Cheshire ex CnW now Vegan.

Until recently both worked perfectly, now suddenly they freeze and pixellate, picture is all over the place, yet mine is still spot-on.

The first mate, when he showed me what was happening I blamed it on the fact he'd recently moved into his home, he was connected only because the previous tenants supply hadn't been switched off, and possibly there was a drop in signal in the area which he couldn't report to get boosted.

However, my other friend subscribes, her legit box works, but she's told me today the Max she uses upstairs now breaks up, pixellates etc.

I haven't a clue where to go on this, I even tried the firmware for the weak signal 8%, it worked for an hour then picture broke up again.

I've looked at previous posts, would signal boosters etc do any good?

hi whacko99. i live in edinburgh and myself and a few friends have the same problem, i have asked about this on another site and was giving the following advice.(quote) (you need an isolator (the splitter in the box)we can now say what your problem is. you need to put an attenuator inn line as the signal is too strong so causing breakup). Ihave not done this yet because i am going to get the original tele pest one from my mother in law who does not have tele pest any more but it means decorating her living room first, and as i only need it for my daughters room (as the other one works fine down stairs)she may have some wait.hope this helps. apollo440

Havin a bit of a nightmare trying to flash the Eurovox Max V 2008 (Black Original - def not a clone). I've followed all the instructions to the letter here (and many thanks for these - I'd be totally lost without them) but I keep getting a failed message at the end. I have the null modem cable (rs232) and the UFL_MaxV_Kuro3_18_04_08.exe. I tried it on different machines and it doesn't seem to help. :-(

One thing I noticed is when I start the UFL exe and press the download button it comes up and flashes between COM1 and COM3 (so it' doesn't detect it straight away). Then I press Start and select COM1 and it says Waiting for the response of your receiver... so I plug out the power in the box and then put it back in and it starts to send the data. It's displays/flashes 'dnLd' on the box unit itself. It seems to send ok and then at the writing stage, it's gets to about 47secs in and then the 'dnLd' on the box unit changes to Err. I've read that this is common and if you leave it then the UFL message changes to 'Downloading is Successfull'. I leave it for a good length of time and it doesn't change.

Has anybody got this themselves and does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do next?

    Many thanks.

Not 100% but I am sure it is Ch**us MMDS there, (so standard DVB C box wont work, you need a DVB T box/device, e.g. Eurovox TX or Box T). But I would check with your provider first and foremost, regards what service you can get.

Hi farhic7, cheers for the reply. I'm in Dublin also. The box was working fine for many months then the picture froze up and then the screen went black. The unit display on the box (black maxV 2008) came up (once) with the dashes that circle around the unit display (and each time it powers up). I've read that this means you need to flash it. But each time I do, it comes up with the Downloading is failed message on the UFL (I've tried several cables on several different computers [all winXP if that makes a difference?] and evey time I get the error).

I'm not convinced the box is knackered cos it seems to download for a couple of mins then error near the end. If the box was 'bricked' would I be able to do this? I don't want to jtag it though as it sounds complicated and way over my head. Any other ideas? I was thinking of trying to flash it with Vista rather than XP maybe? I looked at youtube for tutorials and I've noticed that the lad doing it on youtube can get his box picked up in the ufl software at the start whereas mine I have to do it in boot mode. In other words I have to tell it to use COM1 then pull out the power plug then put it back in. Then it starts to send the data. I'm thinking that if the

Cheers for the link also. I've had a good read of it there.

Just had the same problem with a friends box. the message 'Err' keeps appearing.Luckily I had a spare motherboard from another box to sort it,but it looks like the other one will have to be jtagged:(.
Like yourself I don't fancy going down that road. Maybe someone here will have an alternative solution.

My Eurovox max v and PVR were doing the same... ie BBC 1 and 2 were pixelating and breaking up - I have modified my list to have bbc one audio and bbc 2 audio to replace the breaking up channels...

I have alsways had these 2 other channels and never had a need to use them before...

Any ideas why this is happenning, by the way i am a Telewest croydon area - are all others with issues in similar area?
