Almost all problems have been fixed with firmware updates, (Kuro Beta 2), been the latest. I would not recommend you buy from fleabay as you need to use a reputable dealer. I have sent you some info.

Wondering is there much difference with Kuro 2 and the Kuro released back in Oct of last year, wud it be worth reflashing my box with the newer one?

Asthetically here is no difference Nedser, Kuro 2 was brought out for the people who had signal problems, as Kuro Beta 1 had the booster on by default.

Hi Scouser/Celtic and others. Been reading your valuable advice for a week all over this site but to no avail :-(

I brough my Eurovox Max 2008 two months ago and after some initial hiccups got "All" channels. However, on new years it went duff and after attempted re-tune I got the 8% problem. I've since brough the RS232 Null modem and USB adapter cables as recomended and downloaded the BETA software.

BUT: When I try and run (Download to receiver) the BETA it flicks between COM 3 and COM 4 for a while then states "The receiver was not detected" and gives me the option to select from 4 COM ports... of which I can only select COM 4

I then click start and it hangs there saying "Waiting for the response of your receiver"...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out... I have got very little hair left as it is :)

    Thanks in advance

I think that the only solution for the 8% problem is to return the box to your supplier. They have been given new replacement boards for any defective boxes reported to their suppliers. Apparently the manufactures are aware of this issue & are providing free replacement parts. If the supplier you used is reputable they will sort it out for you.

    Thanks for quick response Gman...

read earlier that the 8% prob was resolved by beta firmware release?

Box was working fine before this... also the problem is wth connecting to the box to get the firmware on... are these two linked?

I hope you are correct, it would be much easier. The Info I posted was the latest I was aware of & apologize if it threw you off.

If you are using XP have a look in the following section.

    Start
    Right click "My Computer"
Choose "Manage" from the drop down list.
Click on "Device Manager" (In the left hand pane)
Click on the little "Plus Sign" beside the "Ports (COM & LPT) in the right hand pane.
You should see your adapter identified there.
There will be an exclamation mark of question mark on it if there is a problem with it.

Have you installed the drivers that came with the adapter?

You need to send your box back as it will work for a while and then it will die altogether but that is up to you if you send it back before it dies you have a better chance of getting it replaced as if it is dead they will be against taking it back as you will have changed the firmware on it causing the box to null its warranty

brought it from digicom247... anyone had any dealings with them?

There's no alerts in ports section of device manager but interestingly I only show COM ports 5,6,7... whereas the beta software searches on 1-4

Any idea if that could be causing an issue?

I am letting you know when you update your box it will work for a while and it will die then there is no known cure for the 8% problem otherwise why would Manufacturer be replacing the boards free of charge they would just give the info out to fix if it was that easy also they are the ones that release the firmware

Follow the procedure I posted above to get to your device in device manager.

    Right click on the device
    Choose Properties.
    Click on "Port Settings" TAB
    The click on "Advanced"
It will let you set the port number there.

Hi guys... had changed port settings to correct (one) but still nothing.

The reason i was looking for frmware work-around is that I brought this a couple of months ago and expect a shrug of the shoulders from the seller (see previous examples on forum)...

Still, I guess i'll go down the route of bad mouthing thru fleabay:)

Thanks for the advise.. if any more is heard please let me know as I'm missing the footy already!

You should have no problem with returning it as all sellers are aware of the problem just tell him it has the 8% problem and he will either send you a board to change yourself or you will have to send him the box as he gets the boards for nothing anyway so there is no cost involved only postage
